the S2000 is a pure, raw sports car. The 350Z is not. not that this has anything to do with why you should buy one car vs the other (you can buy a civic and spend a couple K and the car will destroy most any exotic) but the S2000 is quicker to 60, and the quarter mile in ever review i've read. i can also pull up those links if you like... having said that, i think the 350Z is a great car.
I agree the S2000 is a very nice car. When talking about cars of this calibur there is more to consider then the car it self. I know from research that the Z is only a bit slower then the corvette.

What it comes down to when you have a class of car that is so close is the ability of the driver in a given condition.

From the link you gave me I would own any of the cars mentioned...

Audi TT Quattro
BMW Z4 3.0
Honda S2000
Nissan 350Z Touring
Porsche Boxster

But I would take an Audi A4 before a TT

I like the Porsche turbo but haven't driven a Ferrari. Ferrari is much more of an attention getter, that's for sure.

I am looking to pick up a nice 1968 Camaro for fun... I use to have one and wish I didn't sell it. My first car was a 64 chevelle with crager ss mags and a 350 small block. Next was a 67 chevy II...which kicked ass too. I know the old muscle don't corner worth a pinch of shit...but that is why I have my Ninja.

I don't need speed in a car when my motorcycle can beat anything on the road. I have not lost a race on my bike... and before someone says .... well the Hayabusa has more HP......

know my bike is not stock. I have about 5k in the motor alone, not to mention ...Keihin flat slide carbs, no air box... velocity stacks, performance machine wheels, muzzy exhaust, muzzy cams, etc...... any weight that does not need to be on the bike is gone....

I use to race it for Team Kawasaki with a partial sponsorship for two years. Now I just put the lights back on and ride it on the street.

Last time I took it to the strip I clocked 9.82 in the 1/4 in stock trim... no ladder bars...etc.

Depending on how the bike is geared I can go over 300k. Right now I am 1 tooth smaller in the front and 3 larger in the back... that hurts my top end but makes the low and mid much more fun...

gotta luv speed and what a machine can do for you in a controlled environment.

Cheers

i learned an awesome life lesson at about 7 years old driving home from the horse race track with my father and his uncle who was very sucessful in the concrete business - he made millions in the 50's and 60s in that game. My dad worked for himself and had lost a few hundred dollars that day and was whinning about it- at the time that money meant a lot to him, his uncle looked at him and said 'what the fuck are you whining about - you work for yourself. go make some more"

i never forgot that.

I had a Dino 246GT about 30 years ago. It was red of course with a black suede interior and I still think it is one of the best looking Ferraris ever. But it was a pain in the ass to own and one hell of an anti-climax after the first couple of weeks.

I regularly drove a 911 Turbo round about that time too. Much more civilized in traffic and great on highways. But really push it around curves and that rear engine starts to compete with the laws of physics.

For posing, the Ferrari is the obvious choice: at least if you want to attract a high percentage of guys and bimbos. But it's a bit obvious and you could do with something that has more class. If you really do want a sportscar for the sheer fun of driving, go for something much more chuckable than either of these two.

a ferrari is a chicks magnet and needs a new cludge every 8.000km, a porsche is a car you can drive every day and requires a service every 20.000km.

one thing both cars have in common is: you simply can't get them on the dancefloor.

Quiet,

why choose? Buy both and build a bigger garage ;)

As long as you have the garage space, you might as well pick up a GT too.

If this was a simple world, Ferrari. but for me, it's not.

After I sold my mainstream business and decided to enter this biz again, I also sold what I drove because I did not want attention from wrong people and bought a simple suv. lol. Because of the industry we're/I'm in now, I did not need any extra eyes pointed my way. If you drive an exotic you'll notice ppl following you, for various reasons, not always just to gawk. I know a cop in DC area that calls in to "check up" on every exotic he's sees and there are lots in Northern Virginia that party in DC. You'll notice it'll be hard to find a parking spot anywhere that you feel safe parking, and yet, when you return, you'll see some fucker parked right next to you. You'll see ppl stand next to or sit on (yes sit on) your car to take pix. When you go clubbing/out, you'll notice dents/scratches from haters, even though it was valeted safely. I use to know a valet that loved screwing girls in other ppl's cars. great idea for a porn site, huh? If you're doing it for sex, and I doubt it, then yeah it works but so does a nice pair of shoes and a smile. If you ARE doing it for pussy, when you want to filter out the golddiggers after leaving the club, walk up to the shittiest car you can find and see if she still wants you, if so, then walk over to your exotic. lol.

If you've got plenty of money and you do, then go for a new ferrari. don't buy someone else's headache. or put your money into ME412:
http://scoop.daimlerchrysler.com/concept_me412.shtml
not concept, prototype. if you're willing to wait 2 years. or go classy/exec and put money into a Maybach. or wait for the Zonda to come to US in 2005/6. you've obviously got the money. or do what I did, and put the money into domains before the million dollar price tags return industrywide. buy them cheap while they still are affordable. lol. This year, I spent over 3 but got more than my money's worth. Me.com went for 1/2 million. CreditCard/CreditCards.com just sold for nearly $3M a month ago and every wire service, tv network picked up the story and articles/reports are coming out in 30-45 days. so the days are coming back strong. buy them to build or buy them to flip. but they're not as much fun to drive.

The fact you even put an Audi in this category of car is disturbing

the S2000 is a pure, raw sports car.
Test drive a Lotus Elise or a Caterham Superlight and find out what a REAL pure, raw sports car is like

By raw sports car you must mean go-kart?

I'm either a big fan of Ferrari nor of Porsche.

Go for a SL65 - simply the best car you can buy for money.

People will SIT ON somebody elses car to take pictures?
wtf? How often does something like this happen?
And how often can a person expect to get scratches/dents from haters?

btw, very interesting post ;)

A Ferrari isn't always as fun once you drive it. Yeh the rush and exhilaration and roar are great, but beyond that sit behind the wheel and drive it for a while and it gets old fast and you realize its a lot of work to drive, service and really not that comfortable.

You also get non-stop people staring and gawking at you while you drive and when you are at stop lights.

That gets really annoying after a while and you want to say to them "What the fuck are you all staring at bitches!"

You are right about the comfort angle, I was toying with the idea of buying one earlier on this year. But it was like sitting on a park bench. The pedals were also too close together for my big feet so there went that idea

The Ferrari looks awesome Quiet but the interior stinks.

To be honest tho, I doubt I'd turn down this car just for the interior.
