I got kicked in the mouth during BJJ class yesterday and it punched a big hole in my lip, so I had to get a tetanus shot and stitches yesterday at Kaiser.

Aren't stitches supposed to be tight and almost invisible? I have thread hanging out the corner of my mouth and this shit is STILL all swollen up on the inside. Anyone ever had stitches on their lip? How long does it take to heal?

a few days, keep ice on it swelling *should* go down after a few hours. Take some anti-inflammatories too.

not all stitches are small and invisible - for the most part they are still using the old black sticthing thread still,
don't worry about it too much at this stage but if there's no visible healing in a few days - one week go see a doc

healing time depends really on 2 factors - how deep and big the cut s .. and how fast a "healer" you are - everyone's different

had stitches in my mouth before myself. Had a skin graft took skin from the roof of my mouth to cover an exposed nerve in my gums. it was ALOT of fun. Good luck with em.

The bad part probably is the fact that the human bite is so bad. With so many little bacteria and shit on your teeth infection is likely with lots of bits. Luckily you got on yours pretty quick so hopefully there won't be much problem.

I had stitches inside my mouth from when I got my wisdom teeth out...they were there for a few days then came out themselves
