In none of my responses have I quoted from the bible. The reason for this is that in order for anything in the bible to have force in an argument, the bible must first be accepted as an authortative doceument by both parties involved in the argument. You don't accept it. Therefore, nothing I say based on it will support my case to you.

The question I am asking is whether it is reasonable to accept the premise that a higher power exists in the first place. If we can't agree on that, it is useless to argue about who that higher power might be, Jesus or whoever.

Your argument against the existence of god is a typical one, based on the reasonable assumption that a loving God would not allow evil to exist in the world. This has been argued many times before, over hundreds of years, by philosophers and scientists alike. The problem with it, however, is that is assumes that a a good God and an evil world cannot coexist, that a good God would not permit a world to become evil, because, after all, he is a good God.

This does not take into account the nature of free will, which the bible says God gave to man. Free will allows man to freely choose freely between good and evil. It is not God who causes evil in the world. It is man. God did not set that cat fire. Two assholes did. Evil exists as a choice, but not one condoned by God. The bible say that God weeps when man suffers. Man causes his own suffering.

I don't peddle those kinds of pics. My stuff is basically playboy style (although there is some hardcore from some of my models in there -- their choice). Unlike many who claim to know God, I do not pretend to know his will or mind regarding such things. I don't go beyond what I consider good taste. Still, it may well be that I am doing something that displeases him. I have always been up front about the fact that I am a complete and total hypocrit. But that has no effect on the question we have been discussing in this thread. Whether I'm going to heaven or to hell is not the point. My argument is that I am going somewhere, which can only happen if God exists.
