I don't necessarily view the apology as backpeddling, or it being a bad thing really. Looks to me like he's apologizing for the wording of the vid's description only, not for posting the video itself.

When pressed, those who were bitching the loudest over it admitted that what bothered them the most was the way the description read..."Hottest pussy you'll ever see" or whatever.

Although I support free speech and freedom of online expression, I also recognize that some things we say can offend a lot of people sometimes. I get the feeling that CJ will continue to bring contraversial shit to the net regardless of this incident, but will use a bit more thought when writing link titles like this one. I don't blame them.... because with a few different words in that link most of this could have been avoided.

Again, I support the right to post and write freely, with the exception of illegal content of course. I think this apology was targeted properly and in good taste.

this thread makes me wanna go kick my cat.

but i won't, cause she's my baby.

at least you can still see humans getting killed and other humiliating and degrading things happening to people at CJ.

Wow. I didn't see this coming. Whatever, you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

Good point.

I'm not too prone to being serious when spending time on GFY but this is a bit ridiculous. 100 times more complaints over a stupid fucking cat than of a man being decapitated. I see them dead on side of the road on a regular basis and have smashed a few under my tires on accident as well. You people have some seriously fucked up priorities.

beergood 07-24-2004 10:18 AM

I don't hear you fucksticks compalining about TV shows that depict trophy hunting. Shooting mammals with fucking Bow & Arrow or guns. I bet you love going eat fucking chicken, beef or pork. Animals that are kept no better than slaves back in the 17th century and then brutally slaughtered. Fucking get over it. I definitely understand the concept behind the apology but its still bullshit that you had to go to such lengths over a cat.

I think the difference is that the beheading video was a war crime that was not made for entertainment purposes. The cat being burned was done for entertainment purposes, and getting it posted on a site like CJ would only encourage more stupid kids to burn cats and try to get them posted on big sites.

I don't think terrorists are surfing CJ and getting encouraged...

Nor do I.

But there is something about it that bothers me.

Its not even about *the video itself* its about the TITLE.

Which is only words.

I think of those pictures of a girl with arrows stuck in her side, rape, I think of all the horror make-up fx I have done, and all the horrible stuff I have on DVD.

over the title of it?

Anyway, as I said before I dont support the video but the site owners choice to do as they choose. I never cared either way really.

I wonder when all these people will try and shut down NecroBabes.com and other sites they dont *agree* with.

foolio 07-24-2004 10:33 AM

I wonder if the people that get SO very upset over shit that happens to animals do ANY work to help out the homless, or donate any real amount of money to chairty that benifit *humans*. All this crying over a cat when we have people living worse than animals on the street - to me THATS the really sad issue. But hey, a kitty is cute, a bum is ugly right?

And as far as CJ - shit, this is what they do, It is a real shame that peopel, who KNOW full well this is thier style would complain about it. Shit, its CJ - wtf do you expect?

Since you're fucking wondering... the answer in my case is YES.

Next question.

I really believe most bums choose to live that lifestyle. Do they apply for a job at McDonalds? No, they stand outside and ask for money. They have the choice. The cat didn't choose to be murdered.

Well exactly. I agree fully.

But I also know that people have been apologizing for saying things wrong for thousands of years. I see this as conceding a minor point only.

I do get the feeling that some people here are reading into what Rick posted as him apologizing for posting the video. I wish they'd read it a bit closer, because again it is pretty plain to me that he is apologizing for the wording of the TITLE people.... the title. Not the posting of the video.

Humans are largely responsible for their own destiny. Animals are at our mercy. If there's a bum in front of Wal-Mart, he deserves to be there. He did it to himself. I don't feel bad for stepping over him. Animals are innocent. Are you too stoned to see the difference?

On Late night with Dave Attell a couple night ago, they showed some cops down south driving along a water bank shooting Nutria for fun.

COPS, LAW ENFORECEMENT - guess what, they were simply driving on the shore at night with a light, shining it onto the edge of water and guys with rifles simply took shoot and watched the animals twich and fall screaming.

this was on comedy central.

they were not eating Nutri, they were simply shooting them, COPS.

it makes me laugh that people cant stand seeing an animal burned (i agree) but shooting them for fun is totally fine.

"as long as they dont come in my house, i love the pretty animals"

shoot them otherwise.

ots all hypocritical bullshit

Some humans seem to react on emotions alone. They don't like to be confused with facts and truth. In those instances the answer is, "No, they don't see the difference... stoned or not."

There is a ton of thinking that is backasswards in this world.

Take for example the fact that several people here seemed angrier at Rick, Marc and CJ for posting the video than they were at the bastards who MADE the video.

It still astounds me.

Kiddy jabs? I like how you left out the part of my quote that made a completely valid point. I guess one couldn't expect any more from a barely literate Canadian.

It would only be hypocritical bullshit if those same cops were the ones shouting out against animal abuse.

I think those cops should be fired. They would be, if I was their boss.

Your valid point was devalued with your childish closing remark which was inflammatory and unnecessary.

It was hardly childish and unnecessary. It's well known that Fletch smokes too much weed. Smoking weed impairs a person's judgment. You smoke a lot too, huh?

Fletch, you know better.

It wasn't just the video, it was glorifying and condoning the act itself. That's what pissed everybody off.

Okay, so you're saying I was wrong. Your comment to Fletch "Are you too stoned to see the difference?" wasn't taking a cheap shot at him.

Okay, I'll apologize to you, that is, if you don't see it as me buckling like a $2 lawn chair.

I don't mind this thread being continuously bumped. Myself and several others were given a lot of shit in that other thread over standing up for this. It looks like enough people thought the same as we did that CJ finally had to give it a lot of thought themselves.

Fortunately they came to the right conclusion.

WHEN CJ posts a video like this in the future we can look forward to them NOT insinuating that it is FUNNY.

That was our main problem.

I think you forget WHAT CJ is, they do this, they have ALWAYS done this. Its just how they are and that needs to be kept in mind when on the site. If you are sensitive to things sooner or later you will get pissed off viewing stuff on that site.

Oh come on, you really think if the guys who made the video were posting on GFY that we wouldn't be way more pissed at them than at CJ? The only reason someone like you could make that kind of broad assumption is because we can talk to CJ, not the fuckers who burned the cat.

and on another note - they do have ratings next to the title. I was not here the day it was posted, but it DOES have "Extreme critter cruelty" as the rating, so wtf was hard to understand about that? What about the "Extreme critter cruelty" made you think it was funny?

Yes, CJ has always posted controversial content. I am assuming you're not one of the many that are missing the point.

That point being: go ahead and post that video clip. I don't like it. I don't think ANYONE liked it. But don't insinuate that it is FUNNY. Don't make light of it. Don't glorify it so that others are encouraged to do the same thing.

And if you DO decide to make it funny, expect people to shout out against you about it. Expect them to call for your advertisers to boycott you.

You know that saying "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time?" That same theme applies here. If you can't afford to face the consequences of your actions, don't do it in the first place.

I think CJ came to realize that there are better ways to keep shocking people.
