I've noticed that either way, Cj is screwed. If they don't issue an apology, then all the people who are against the videos and the things that have happened this past week are still pissed off. If he issues an apology, there's the select few asses who berate him for going back on things that were said earlier.

People that you hate because of recent threads (including me) would see this letter and feel like they accomplished something. I'm sure that crossed your mind when you were writing. I can call off the cat lovers. I wasn't going to tell anyone this, but yesterday I spent a good part of my day visiting cat lovers here in my hometown. Some of them are rich white women that spend thousands on their kitties. I explained to them what had happened in the video and it brought them to tears. Then I told them how the clip was titled. The result is exactly what I expected. I was actually organizing a meeting to discuss what to do next. But this will change all of that.

I'm sure the old ladies will still be pissed, but I also know I can show them your freedom of speech to post such things. It's not wrong to post them, it's just wrong to mock them and laugh at them.

Again, my hat is off to you. I feel all warm and bubbly inside about your decision to do this.

Rick, quite impressed that you would do something like this, even if you were pressured into it by numerous directions, its still not easy to take a step back and admit that the title might have been going a bit too far.

If you're TRULY concerned about the animals then why wouldn't you continue on with your plans? Obviously you can't undo what's been done, but posting the video isn't the problem - the abuse is. It was interesting watching the reaction of people when I described that video to them. One lady got up running into the other room screaming at me to stop telling her about it because she couldn't stand it. Another contorted her face all sorts of ways with her eyes wider than I imagined they could go. Still others just started having misty eyes. Others started trying to give me things.

Regardless of how you feel about the video or not and how you feel about the title or not for CJ to make a "public" apology is admirable considering the reaction it has received here.

Should they have done it? Maybe and maybe not. Only the CJ owners and their legal team know. Perhaps there is more at work than a few pissed off webmasters and old ladies. Perhaps some "agency" got involved and it was either write the letter or face some nasty ramifications.

Rick's a shrewd biz man and wouldn't have written that letter had there not been a demand for it and that's the markings of a successful man. Give to your customers what is demanded.
