Best Airline
When I go on business and pleasure trips I almost always take NWA because there's a big hub near where I live and I have a ton of miles banked up with them. However a friend flies united and says their frequent flyer program kicks more ass. What do you guys use?

I live in Atlanta - we just fly Delta here
But unless I'm going somewhere like Hawaii, I never have any plane changes or layovers - all direct flights! |

I fly America West 80% of the time because the 1st class is super cheap- and they have nonstops to most of the places I go. I do not EVER reccomend taking any flight with them that is not a direct flight. Even if your flight stops somewhere and you're on the same flight # and not scheduled to switch planes, sometimes they will switch the aircraft anyway and you'll get stuck. They are notorious for skrewing up- I've been stuck in Phoenix at least 3 times, once for 4 hrs, once for 6 hrs, and once 24 hrs.
The last time we were comming back from internext, Vegas, and we had a stop in PHX, they messed up and we were stuck overnight. I started to start bitching and then I looked over and saw 2 soliders in their fatigues who had to stay the night too. This one guy kept saying "how am I going to tell my wife and daoughter, I haven't seen them in MONTHS"- really brought me back to reality. |

" We charged you too much for this ticket and it's totally our fault you're missing your flight. Oh, and we're not going to comp you anything." What's up with the VAST lack of comps? No one comps you anymore! I ate at a place and found plastic bristles, like from a pot scrubber or something, in my food, I couldn't eat it, and it was a pretty $$ place, like $50 a plate. They asked me if I wanted them to make me another and I said no way. They didn't even comp me MY meal that I didn't eat! WTF! ![]() |

It all depends on where you live and where you are flying. I'm in Phoenix and I fly to LA, SD, and Vegas all the time, so I use America West.
And like someone else said, their first class is cheap and worth it. But they do fuck up a lot, so then you write a shitty letter, and you get a nice voucher to use on a later flight. All in all, America West.

Unless you're doing over 100k a year in miles, NWA has a better program (world perks) IMHO.

America West!
I only fly First Class and with them you can for the price you would pay for a full fare coach on most airlines. Their Frequent Flyer Program is the best and just won a huge industry award a few months ago. I get front of the line check-in and security and other perks. You can also burn their miles for flights on airlines like British Airways. The service is generally pretty rock solid but they have hit some bumps as the are rapidly trying to expand and grow. If you really want to know more about airlines this is the place. www.flyertalk.com

Here are the awards I mentioned about America West
In March, America West was chosen as the Best Major Airline by Entrepreneur magazine for the second-consecutive year. Entrepreneur readers noted America West?s responsiveness to the interests of the business traveler and applauded it's business-friendly fares. America West?s frequent flyer program, FlightFund, was honored in April, taking home its second consecutive gold when it was named Best Elite-Level frequent flyer program in the United States, Canada and Latin America at the 16th Annual Freddie Awards. Approximately 275,000 frequent flyers are polled each year on their favorite programs

I like Lufthansa. German quality. Lot's of space between the seats. Royal Dutch KLM is also nice + Singapore Airlines.

Delta sucks ass. Flights are very very often late, and don't expect any compassion if you miss a connecting flight because of their fuck-ups.
American West is late often as well. But at least these folks bust their asses to compensate for their ineptness. Southwest... well, they suck, but at least they know it. They're cheap and passengers are cattle, but at least everyone knows those factors in advance. If you are willing to MOO like a cow, they'll get you to your destination cheaply. |

i usually fly SIA/Singapore Air everywhere. While there is a 3 hour backtrack to their Singapore hub, it's well worth it. Their business and first class is the best in the world.
In the states I use Delta. Their rewards program is one of the worst in the world IMO cuz they are not Star Alliance which limits your options. Why do I use Delta? Because I had already racked up 200k miles with them before I thought to compare them with other programs... Lack of Attention to detail strikes again =)

There was a family trying to get to Seattle to plan funeral arrangements for the guy's brother. We ended up flying the Southwest cattle car, which may not be the most comfy, but it got us home. I don't have a favourite anymore. United has great flight attendants. Continental has better seating, as does ATA. I haven't flown Delta in a while, so I don't remember. I will try very hard NOT to fly America West ever again. In general, they all suck.

I fly Continental... I've never encountered delays.
I've also flown United and Delta.. which sucked. Pittsburgh has the BEST airport for a layover!! Once my daughter and I flew back one way from Jacksonville (she had a cheerleading competition) and we got pulled aside for a security check (at the time they were doing this with one - way ticks).. my daughter was so upset and said "Mom, I'm a cheerleader not a terrorist." It was pretty shitty b/c the plane was 2 hours late and we had to sit in a secluded area b/c they had already checked us through security and couldn't let us out after that. They were escorting some people to the bathroom.. it pretty much sucked. |
