![]() I've always used hosting that gave me an individual IP for each domain. I'm looking at switching, but apparently not everyone does this. For certain sites, I will need different IPs regardless, but in general, would having the same IP for some sites impact search engine optimization at all?

Ask around and you'll hear both.
A lot of hosts these days seem to prefer virtual hosting when it comes to having multiple domains on a server, so you'll often be limited to one or two IP's. IP's cost money. And they're becoming harder and harder to get whole blocks..... which is why its not a bad idea to have a couple of accounts with different hosts (different hosts, different IP addresses) to bounce off of....
