No, the answer I gave was pretty much on the money. If you purchase an expired domain Google will have it reset for only a certain amount of time, but as I stated all you really have to do is keep the inbound links up to par, and you won't lose so many points on it. As WG also pointed out, if you purchase an expired domain that has an original PR of 8, chances are pretty good you'll end up with a PR6 or PR5, assuming you keep up the inbound links.
No your answer and wg's is misleading.Google is now for the first time crunching all expired domains pr and its no longer a matter of a couple of months till they reinstate whatever pr is left, to the site.

What the hell is yahoo looking for? I've got google covered but I can't seem to yahoo.

To figure out Yahoo, just read up on Inktomi. But then again, we may start to see more of the Overture Site Match and Content Match crap showing up on the SERPs, rather than just the PFI domains. I like Yahoo's traffic, but since they have so many shareholders to pay off, and lets not forget the purchase of Altavista, Overture and FAST/ATW to pay off as well, they are truly diluting the shit out of their once really good SERPs..

:2 cents:

Don't worry, they'll be updated shortly I'm sure. And also, just to add something to a new trader, try and get inbound only links without trades, it will help you out in the longrun.

I know you're eager to pick up secrets, but it ain't gonna happen. Best thing I can offer you is what I posted a bit earlier in the thread. Read that, and start testing your strategies.

So NiteChatDotTV, what do SEO specialist companies actually do after you pay them tons of $$??

Are they basically just doing all of your tips combined or do they just know people at Google + other SE's?

woj 07-08-2004 11:40 AM

great tips dude :thumbsup

It depends on the company. Some companies have ties with insiders, most don't. SEO is a pretty basic idea, but requires a lot of time, and effort to be put into it in order for it to work. Depending on the SEO firm you hire to do your SEO work, they do pretty much all of the basic stuff we touched up on here, but on an enterprise level, or at least they should.

Yeah, I believe GFY gets spidered by Google. Whether or not it will help your PR is up in the air. I don't think it will, but if you feel like spamming away go for it I guess and tell us how you do.
robots.txt excludes everything.

thanks for the thread :thumbsup

Despite the robots.txt there were a few random threads/posts that Google was indexing for some strange reason up until quite recently. :glugglug

Yah, I actually based my answer on this because I remember searching for something and a GFY thread showing up in the SERPs.

how much SE traffic do u have, how much do u make and can u post some of your sites pls?

wvuatl 07-09-2004 09:15 AM

here is one that was missed:

what is the max number of text words you would want to have per page? do SEs care if you have too many words per page?

alexg 07-31-2004 02:04 PM

Could you point out the basic things Yahoo sees as important when ranking pages?

I know, for google incoming links is a VERY important thing, as well as keyword density, keywords in the title, h1 tags etc'

What in general should be done to optimize for yahoo?

alexg 07-31-2004 02:05 PM

btw, this is a very informative post, and I encourage more knowledgeable people to start such threads in the future...:thumbsup
