Attn: Gun lovers
Gonna pick up a 9mm, looking for something priced reasonably - just to play around with.
Any suggestions? |

Thanks X-web. Nothing's more rewarding than asking a question and getting an obnoxious comment in broken english.
I didn't actually plan on using it to fight anyone, I weigh in at around 250 with a 48 inch chest. And I'm a nice guy. No one's picked a fight with me since grade school. (and I beat the hell out of that guy) |

Ruger has some well made great priced 9mm's. We have a couple different ones and they have held up well when the old man starts wildcatting the loads. lol Look at the (I think) 'K'series.

FEG 9mm Hi-Power is basically the same thing as a Browning Hi-Power. Parts are interchangeable and identical. However, the FEG is not as refined, especially the trigger pull. But since you're lookin' just to "play around with it", you can't beat it's $200 price tag.
It's the only handgun I would ever recommend that's under 2 bills, whether your serious or playing around. |

Get a Glock 19 or a glock 17.. They are very nice inexpensive guns.. About 400.00
Very ACCURATE, AND good quality.. If you like a good compact gun, get the glock 23.. I have one of those.. It is a very nice gun.. Also if you want to spend a bit, a nice supcompact is the Sig P239 This is my favorite.. Stay away from the American made 9 mm like Ruger, or Smith and Wesson. They are heavy and very clunky. Not a 9mm lovers favorite to say the least.. Nothing special. For a bit more you can buy a quality hand gun like glock, sig, or HK. HK USP is also nice gun, but a bit more. If you are on a budget and want a clunky heavy gun that recoils not as well as the exotics, then go Ruger.. NO Smith and Wesson.. They are too much for the type of gun you get. These cheap 100.00 guns really should be banned.. They are shit, too many people can afford em, and too many fucks have guns that know nothing.. Thats why there are soo many shootings and shit because of these cheap ass guns, and fuck heads getting thier hands on em.. I am a gun owner and a gun lover, own several quality guns.. But I really really hate the cheap shit guns, and the people that own them..

So Bone, you're saying you hate poor people?
Just picking, I see what you're saying - for most folks a price tag can be like a waiting period. I'd like to get a Glock - but around here all I've seen were around 600 -I'm not looking hard yet though. The cops here carry Glocks, say you can drop one off the top of a building and not hurt it. (I told 'em I wasn't really planning on throwing at the target) ![]() My friend has a Ruger and I like it too. I've never heard of an FEG but I'll look into it. |

I agree with you Boneprone...unless it's a young woman who doesn't have a lot of money and needs some protection from an ex or something. To me, the worst with cheap guns is they don't work reliably. Especially the shitty 22's or even worse 25's. A friend (old roomate) of mine bought one for an abusive stalking ex, took care of it like she needed to and was told to..when my dad came to visit, being a rugged Oregonian type LOL, he insisted on checking it for her. Not only would it have never fired if she wanted it to but it most likely would have backfired on her! Arggggg!
Btw, you know what's more dangerous than a rapist, theif, etc. breaking into your house and having no gun?....One that won't work. If you pull it you best be prepared to use it and if it doesn't work...UhOh, you are so fucked. ![]() |

I agree the Glock is one of the best to own
Cheap guns are funny I ordered a 9mm browning long from a place in Montreal that cost me $98(used) and at the same time I could have got a new 357 pellet gun for $115 so needless to say I bought the 9mm long which also sucked cause the ammo for the 9mm long was about a buck a shot for the first 500 rounds then handloading was cheaper once you have the brass But check this out in canada you have to have your handgun locked inside a locked case inside like your trunk to transport them yet when the gun had been tested by the cops they gave it to me in a paper bag and said sure just take it home just a bunch of goofs Itchy ![]() |

Oh yeah, don't forget: never listen to boneheads that talk badly about a gun that they've never owned or shot. If anything they deserve the blunt end of a "Satuday Night Special" for ignorance and stupidity.
The only thing these people know about guns and the topic of guns are what they see from movies. I personally would never own a $75 handgun. They're very unreliable, poorly constucted and inadequate for personal defense. But I'm not an elitest. If you can't afford a 4 to 6 hundred dollar handgun, I still recommend a cheap one for defense. I mean, it sure beats the hell out of getting out the ol' bow and arrow in the middle of the night. But, it's your CONSTITUTIONAL right to bear arms of any price. Trust me. I've shot 2000 plus rounds in each of my handguns and from my PERSONAL experience, whether it's my Browning, Sig, Beretta, H&K USP, Kimber, or FEG, I would recommend each one. |

I shouldn't have limited that to women. Anyone that doesn't have the money and needs protection should have options.
Warphead, I had a glock many moons ago. I loved it. They are fab guns and the best thing for me was they weighed next to nothing. Important for a sissy girl like me. Alot of guns I have a hard time picking up let alone shooting straight, let alone handling the kick back LOL. |

The Rugers we carry are partially made from nylon or whatever. Lighter than a Glock. But you trade the recoil when you take off weight from the weapon. Just happened to be married to an expert that also collected for years and years. He has alot of more serious training than most people can get even if they wanted. Trained Police depts with their SWAT weapons as well as taught them to care for their arsenals. If he says this is a good gun then it is.
He also has some toy cheapos and has never had any problems with them but on a rare occassion...usually from fouled or poor ammo. Hey a gun that won't fire is still a club which is better than an empty hand. He'd also like to know what century that weapon that would backfire was made in. If it were bought new he says Hokey to someone identifying it would backfire unless it was seriously mistreated, taken apart and reassembled wrongly etc. People used to go with the police choice of cars too. Don't trust the police choice in anything. Go to a range that rents them and try them yourself. Cheaper all around. People DO have the right to defend themselves so if a cheapy is all they can afford then fine. |

Gemini,
It was bought used, so you have a point. My point was if you buy a gun and are unexperienced, simply a girl frightened that needs some protection than you expect it to work. She, nor I, have the experience that you or your hubby does. My dad, although he is not a professional grew up in the country in a time where guns were commonplace and you just learned naturally from your father or granddaddy, etc.. He knows his stuff (not like you or your hubby granted ) and when we took it to a guns shop afterwards, they suggested we dispose of it and never mess with it again. Why the fuck did they sell it to her to begin with?!See now that's what you get when you get two women trying there damndest to protect themselves, knowing very little about a praticular gun, and still not being able to effectively protect ourselves, well, herself. You expect to buy a gun and hope that it will at least work. Not all of us have know how to learn ALL the ins and outs, aside from shooting targets effectively and cleaning it properly, etc. Oops, did I just make an argument for gun censorship? Not my intention...just being honest, never claimed to be Rambo LOL. |

Hey thats cool April. *I* am no expert by any means. I can clean some of the ones we have but won't even touch others. lol He still wants me shoot a few that downright scare me. (Ever seen a 30 m1 made into a pistol?)
Ack used guns!! Even when I didn't know alot about them I'd have been fearful to buy used over a new cheaper one. Sort of the same as a car He says that gun shop owner should be flogged with bobwar as he likes to call it. And nope, he's Ohioian and just mispronounces words to annoy me. lmao That was a crime for a owner to do that. Ohio cleaned most of that sort of dealer out years back thankfully. Women should have the right to get whatever they can afford and not be worried about it not working!!!! |

Gemini,
I'm sensible woman (at most times ) why didn't I tell her that if you're not willing to buy a used car, why the fuck would you buy a used gun?! LOL..My bad. Very good point! When you're young and poor and scared, there are an UNLIMITLESS way for people to fuck with you...especially in a ghetto in Long Beach, where we lived LOL. We really could have used your hubby then, shit, we could have used you or it sounds like even your dog LOL. This guy, after the fact, we found out was a suspected gang-bangin' murderer (she always did have horrible taste in men, which is why my son and I made a quick exit..not to say that I wouldn't have stayed and stood behind her if I was single, but I had someone more important to think about) but you're completely right, we were responsible to be better consumers with something so important, and they should have been shut down for fucking with a truly frightened woman's life. ![]() |
