why can't WEBMASTERS make sites MULTI-BROWSER compatible? fuck.

Put down the front page (or learn to use it properly) and stop relying so much on j.a.v.a.s.c.r.i.p.t folks. With this day and age of toolbars taking over shit and sites with active x controls taking advantage of insecure IE it's time to stop being lazy and only designing for IE.

This drives me nuts having to load internet exploiter just to log into some sponsors because menus don't work or even fail to load. Sometimes a few sponsor even produce blank pages or the inability to login at all.

People are shying away from IE and for good reason. For the love of fuck, redo your godamn webmaster programs to accomodate those who don't use IE.

What's funny is Mozilla/Firefox is 100% w3c compliant, while IE is not. Design your pages so the HTML is actually to an acceptable spec, and they'll work on any browser.

I am using a wicked browser. Opera. The problem is not limited to opera though, some sponsors ONLY load in IE and that is IT.

What does IE support that Opera does not? Perhaps Frontpage extensions, but who the hell uses that half-assed crap anyways?

I tried Opera a while ago and would have switched to it from IE if it wasn't for the stupid mouse features. I tried to disable them in the options as 'mouse gestures' but it didn't disable them all. I have a serious right-click problem from playing FPS games and it would throw me around to different pages everytime I click too fast.

I know what you mean about the mouse thing. Can be anoying at times as I am right click happy as well from playin way too much UT. IE doesn't support anythign different, it just reads code differently and people tend to code so IE is 100% happy and the "hell with the other browsers"

I design with Textpad, then view it in IE and Nutscrape. If it passes that cross-browser test of both of those browsers it should do okay with the others too.

I've never had one complaint ever.

Peaching the the choir. I'll tell you one thing. Silvercash doesn't get anywhere near as much traffic from me as they could simply because I can't get into the full admin without IE6. And I don't have IE6 on my main computer. Whoever thought that would be "cool" should be fired. If those are their site designers, why would I think they would convert well? Anyone who designs sites for 1024x768+, IE6 and broadband users needs to find a new line of work.

You're joking right.. According to my stats to pages that are going to be almost all surfers, IE has dropped to < 88% over the last year. And since WMs are going to IE alternatives more and more the WM sites like sponsors etc. should be making sure they're compatible.

it's the browser that has to understand the code. FireFox/Mozilla are the one who can't process it. So bash them!!

You dont understand. People who code for IE are using non-standard code half the time. It's not even w3c compliant.

A good browser understands non-standard HTML. You can't change the people, but you can change the browser.

I want to maximize the sales potential of every damn surfer regardless of which browser THEY choose to use. That's why it's important to me that all the sites are compatible.

Just another dipshit that knows nothing about everything and only posts to start an fake argument.

w3c IS a standard, meaning, all sites are suposed to comply. if they dont comply, that means they are NOT coded properly.

I am not too happy that certain sponsors don't bother to code wc3 compliant pages and forcing me to get vulnerable by using IE to browse their program pages. it's to the point that I refuse to even load up a certain sponsor when I do my site builds. I find somethign else to fit the niche or find content and banenrs and link codes I might have already downlaoded earlier from them.

If you don't like the fact that a lot of webmasters are getting sick of non compliant sites then why don;t you stop reading threads about it and shove your cum covered keyboard up your ass SURFER.

I admit, Netscape 6 was a festering pile of shit, but I love Netscape 7. No toolbars, no spyware, no worms using Netscape Mail, no browserjacking, really good integrated spam filter, tabbed browsing, decent popup blocker, no crashing...I love Netscape.

Bullshit... a bad designer can't build a site/page which looks good in all browsers.. lazy asses.

Why bother?

If someone only want IE users ... just go somewhere else

I hate to interrupt here, but um, if I have credit card holding surfers who are 95% IE because it comes loaded on their computers, and I have geekys and techys and freeloaders that aren't, there's really no choice. If I were a site owner these days I'd be designing for the majority of SURFERS, not resellers, to spend their money with me.

I guess things like Flash and wmv files are definitely out with this crowd.

You seem to forget,. it's us webmaster who send you your credit card holding surfers. if we can't naviagte your sites with OUR TOOLS then why should we even bother then?

So people who don't use IE are geeks, techs and freeloaders? Nice way to pigeon hole us. What about the other 17 percent of surfers who have credit cards (83 percent still use IE)? are their credit cards not good enough? The fundamental rule of building is, make it easy for EVERYONE to read and see. If you can't do that or are too lazy to do so, then you really should shy away from webmaster jobs.

Talk to any mainstream site builders and they will agree that pages should be multi browser compatible or as much as possible. What makes adult any different? Is there a different set of rules and standards just becasue we pedle adult materials? What ever happened to proffesionalism and pride in the work we do each day?

I could care less if my pages only get seen by IE users regardless (if that were the case). I build it RIGHT. I don't run around with half assed work done just because the majority won't notice. Talk about cutting corners in a BUSINESS.

And what if suddenly the ratios change to be 50/50? 50% of your traffic will be unable to browse your site... Instead of putting in a tiny little bit of effort to be standards compliant when developing the site you need to go through each and every one of your websites and make them standards compliant.

If you want to gamble that way then that's your stupid decision to make and the clever people in the industry will walk all over you if it happens.

There are signs that Firefox is gaining significant popularity, it'll always first start with the geeks, then it'll filter down to the advanced users... once it gets to there then the everyday user will be right behind.

How can you say it's HTML if it doesn't comply to the HTML standard?

If it's not standards compliant then it's not HTML. No Microsoft does not control what is and what isn't HTML.
