well, some of the things Bill is saying about blacks might be rude or offensive but I dont think you can question his intentions. I highly doubt that Bill Cosby is truly saying these things out of racism. its more then likely meant to be an eye opener for the younger generations.

I can guarantee you one thing, more good then bad is coming out of these conversations about what he said.

This is a problem in every high school across the nation, regardless of race. High school is nothing more than a giant fashion show and popularity contest. The public school system (espcially high school) is the furthest thing from education I think I've ever seen.

On another note, I commend Bill for bringing these matters to light, because I think it has a lot more impact on people coming from a fellow black man than it would coming from a white or asian person.

You are lucky in music stores, at least you are acknowledged. When ask for help, I get pointed to a computer terminal to look up the artist and when I ask where is row ??? and section ???, the clerks points to an area.

I doubt if B. Cosby is speaking for all the black Americans in this country. I believe he is speaking out for inner city children that there is a future for them despise what environment they live in and one has a choice and a lot of opportunities; more than the middle class kids regardless of skin color. And if one wants to pursue it, stop thinking that education and conducting oneself in civil manner in a society is a ?white man?s curse?.

I admired that a very successful black man is helping his community and is trying to say adapt. And, wish more successful black people would speak out.

Honestly, who or anyone would hire regardless of color, a person with a ghetto attitude that cannot read or write?

BTW, someone mentioned getting tickets to see Cosby live. I saw him in '99, and although there are so many other comedy shows I've enjoyed more his was highly enjoyable and I would definitely recommend anyone that enjoys live comedy go see him given the chance. Many of his stories are about his kids, it had to be quite a trip growing up with BC for a father.

You hit the nail on the head. I spent many years in a downtown public school (95% black) and saw the same thing.

When I first came to that school I was put in the accelerated learning program because I was years ahead of kids my age from what I had learned from another school. They had a field day with me... "The white nerd"... "geek class" (only 2 other kids total in my classes, both white). Shit, we even had our own special filed trips. It bothered me at the time but I am thankful to God I was separated and given a chance to have a better education. I really do feel sorry for those caught up in that cycle.

Anybody see "I Spy" with Cosby? Cosby is 67. He has seen a lot of prejudice in his lifetime. He has ALWAYS worked with the youth of America to help them reach their potential. Cosby has a PhD. He is pro education. What he was quoted as saying recently is something he has been saying his entire life. He's a good man. He gives his time, energy, and money to black communities and white communites to further education and eliminate ignorance.

When his son was shot and killed on the off-ramp of an Los Angeles freeway in 1997, he turned his attention towards violence and worked against gangs and hatred. A very good humanitarian!
