Bill Cosby has more harsh words for black community

"Let me tell you something, your dirty laundry gets out of school at 2:30 every day, it's cursing and calling each other n------ as they're walking up and down the street," Cosby said during an appearance at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition & Citizenship Education Fund's annual conference.

"They think they're hip," the entertainer said. "They can't read; they can't write. They're laughing and giggling, and they're going nowhere."

In his remarks in May at a commemoration of the anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education desegregation decision, Cosby denounced some blacks' grammar and said those who commit crimes and wind up behind bars "are not political prisoners."

"I can't even talk the way these people talk, 'Why you ain't,' 'Where you is' ... and I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk," Cosby said then. "And then I heard the father talk ... Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth."

I think I will buy tickets to go see this guy live when he comes to South Florida in January. This guy sure has some brassy ones clanking in his pants.

the community he is speaking to affects every other community across thsi country. doesnt matter if he is awhite or black. these problems hurt us all, america as a whole.

What to me is interesting about this is that Cosby is keeping this fire stoked. He made similar comments previously and apparently its an agenda he wants to push because he keeps bringing it up despite the criticism it is bringing him. To me that man deserves respect for the fact he is willing to speak out on a cause he believes in, despite the fact it has the potential of having damage to his career.

Cosby is pushing personal responsibility and I applaud him. Do I need to be black to do so?

My problem with these comments from Cosby and everyone is that he failed to state that not "all blacks" are this way. Just like not all whites hate black people, and all black ppl hate whites. It goes both ways. Not all blacks speak this way, and most ppl don't see it that way. I get racist comments every single day. And it's not the "in your face" racism. I don't get called a N*****. It's the backwards way of thinking. If I go to a music store, I ask a clerk for help they automatically show me the rap section or R&B. All my friends know what type of music I listen to, I'm very open minded. But I won't get off the topic that soon. As soon as ppl stop stereotypical views of each other that's when shit will be better. Education? Yes I agree some parents aren't rearing their children right, but don't peg every black person in the same category.

Bill Cosby is great.. I respect him a lot for saying some of this.

well, stereotypes don't arise in a vacuum.

stereotypes exist because of certain general observations by large numbers of people. stereotypes are neither bad nor good.

as long as a high % of any group are fuckups there will be negative stereotyping which will effect the innocent members of that group. positive stereotyping also exists.

stereotyping does affect business decisions. i used to run a large high end retail business that required running the credit apps of people interested in the product. there is a HUGE statistical differential in credit scoring along different racial lines.

now a wonder if anyone can score these racial groups via credit scores:

blacks, japanese, korean, arabic, filipina, anglo.

liberals might tell you the credit ratings of all these groups must be the same.

guess what, day after day, year after year, they are NOT the same.

credit ratings tell of a group's flakiness.

guess who is always at the fuckin' bottom.

this is the shit bill cosby is referring to, and there's really no way to sugarcoat it.

and i'll give another little clue, re: credit scoring along racial lines.

I just finished watching a snippet of bills speech on cnn..and he said that he doesn't care what white people think about him right now...And if white people want to use what he says and use it to talk about his people then what's the difference between what their grandfathers were saying? What is the difference from what their grandfathers were trying to do to our people? But we have to start focusing on what we're doing for ourself...He just said it...and it is emphasized by your BULLSHIT stats about credit ratings and their correlations with the "flakiness" of certain races...

Wow, that was some pretty strong rhetoric that Cosby was putting out there. I think if what he says inspires a small portion of any community to really excel at learning, it's a good thing.

JJ agreed with Cosby, and I don't think Cosby is being anti-black. He's just telling his own people that they have their priorities wrong, he's being pro-black by trying to fix the problems he sees.

I agree. Bill is trying to alleviate a problem he sees as directly and honestly as he can. No political correctness, no gimmicks, no rhetoric. I don't know how his statements can interpreted as anything other than ultra pro-black.

people talk as if there was a "politically correct" way to make a solid point about race and culture without being targeted as being racist... or a way to do it without offending.
