Cracked software

what's your stance on cracked software on your computer ! I've used some software that was cracked just to see if I liked it usually the trial versions don't have the full capabilities and if I liked it I bought it If not it was deleted

Knew a guy that test ran a car once. He didn't get to delete it. They locked him up for car theft. lol Not much different. Or on that stance, hacking a paysite is ok to decide to sign up or not.

there's a big difference You can test drive a car and use all of the features and if it's a lemon you can take it back . Not the case with software ! you bought it your stuck with it !
I've bought software just to find out it won't work with my computer and the programs weren't cheap

I meant take the car WITHOUT the dealers knowledge just like cracked warez, it's illegal. Know exactly what you mean about the costs of software. Have a whole set of shelving full of it. lol Last time I did a business inventory it was more than 10k worth. And alot more in old stuff that we just grew out of. We pay a whole heckuva lot more for some software than what things like photoshop runs. You get used to it and sell it if you can.

Gemini babe, Your right on track..
It does suck to waste the money, But whats the alternative, To Steal Software rather then pay for it.. Hottshot, what are you looking for?? do you want people to agree that stealing things is ok, just because your not sure if you like it??

paying £40 for 'ability office 2000', then seeing it free on a magazine cd 2 weeks later is bad, the same happened with 'dragon speaking'
Why respect the software companies when they pull stunts like that?????

I'm not saying warez is a good thing but it can be helpfull at times and I'm sure the software companies use these sites also to promoter there beta programs it's a good testing ground and I believe if you like it you should pay for it . The share ware policy does work !

True story:
3D Studio Max came out several years ago. It's now a top notch 3D Graphics Program. It's used extensively at Blur Studio. It ranks up there with SoftImage, and Maya.

When it came out you really didn't see adverts for it in regular computer mags, because it's super expensive. Currently selling for more than $3,500. Only pro studios had it. Soon after it came out a crack went out online. Hacks all over that new what Max was, were cracking it. In time everyone had Max.

Someone, (I think at blur) decided to find out how everyone got the crack for Max so quickly, and easily. With only a little investigation, he discovered that the crack originated from the creators of MAX.

The creators of Max (Kinetix) later confirmed this. Their logic is perfect. They said that if someone learns max, and then they get hired at a studio where 3D graphics is new, and they have a cracked version of MAX, that the studio would most likely buy full blown versions of it for their studio. The hack who cracked it, and learned it would then teach all the new people, and MAX will have made a few sales.

That's how MAX got into blur.

Grand Larceny is still a felony and I hate the color flame orange. It clashes with my hair something terrible! lol If I go to prison for theft it's going to have to be for several million dollars!! lol

This is going the way of the Great GFY Napster Debate of '01. Stealing is stealing!

Something I didn't see in that one was the fact that those big bad recording companies PAY those artists millions to cut those tracks and have EVERY legal right to recoup that money. Same in Software. No one owes any one of us a d*mned thing for free.

Yes shareware works and THAT is a legal means. Cracking code is theft tho. You can't rationalize it any other way.

I think it all depends.. if you are using it for yourself just to fuck around and see what it can do, then buying it if you like it, it's okay... i think it should be... you gotta support software or anything else that you enjoy, or you will not see anything new come from it.... if it's good, go buy it.. if it's shit.. delete it and never use it again... companies actually prefer for individuals to run hacked version of their software as opposed to another companies software so that people demand that software at work... that's were it should be paid for regardless of what you do with it... individual home use if different... I just use computers at work for all that shit.. I can't afford to pay for it... my company does.. and when you're an admin.. you have access to all the PCs.....

Stealing is stealing.
Are you feeling guilty cause you're stealing software?
Are you looking for someone to say "hey, its not really stealing" or "its OK to crack software"?

Well stealing is stealing is stealing.

Have a nice day

From What most of you are saying I get that no matter what , you wont use a Ill gotten program .But I'm willing to bet most of You Buy a program and load it on every one of your computers or loan the disk to one of your friends Even though you only have 1 license .In my oppinion thats no different !

I use cracked software, and I always will. Most of it is stuff that I can't afford to buy (yet), but just like the story about 3D Max, I will make my company buy it if it's worth it.

I got my boss to buy me coffeecup for $200.00 because you "need" it to make websites... hehe.

Just like my music cd's, no one
touches my software.
They know where to get the trial versions
if they need to "see what it's like"

A lot of cracked software comes out of the manufacture. If they really wanted to slow it down, they could. There is a lot to be gained by graphic artists having programs that they can use and learn at home and then moving onward and upward in their career fields.

I know I used an old version of Photoshop for a long time until I started doing web pages and making money. Then I purchased a copy. If I never would have used it, I would have never purchased it.

So you can look at it 2 ways.
1st, I'm an ass and ripped Adobe off for 6 months or 2nd, by me having a copy Adobe made a sale that they probably wouldn't have made otherwise.

And since I use all of Adobe's stuff for making pages, they've actually made more than 1 sale.

Nope nothing to debate. Some people just never get it. So why bother to talk to them?

BTW we purchase the network versions so we are legal to use it on our systems. And lend software? Not a chance on a cool day in h*ll.

I'm going to have to stick with Gemini Babe on this one...
Some people don't get it..
We all do what we feel is right to ourselves.
What goes around, comes around.. Every single person has a judgement day... and we all have to live with ourselves.
This topic isnt really worth a debate.
