I also resisted for years, mainly because the first sushi I ever had a few years ago was so bad, it tasted like crap. Then I had good sushi, and man, everytime I get hungry now, I keep thining about sushi. Yum Yum

tesco's (my nearest supermarket) sells small packs of sushi with 4 tiny rice rolls wrapped in seaweed, with a bit of cucumber in the middle for £3.99 - thats about $7.50. thats pretty outrageous for about 25g of rice!

but it tastes awesome

i tried to make it myself.. it was ok..

same here albert heijn sells it tesco alike place, $10 for 4, taste like crap, first sushi i ever tasted, they put a good if bought before label on it thats like a week, sushi thats a week old tastes like crap i know by know

yeah some cool sushi bars here, sometimes even the tail is still moving as they cut the fish in such a fine art that they can keep a nerve trapped. its pretty freaky to watch

Also.. sushi doens't necessarily contain raw fish. A lot of sushi is made only with vegetables or cooked fish / crab etc. It's basically any combination fish (cooked or raw), shell fish, mushrooms and vegetables rolled in sticky rice, wrapped with kelp and sliced. Been a while. Normally I draw up a roll with tuna on top, and tuna in the center with avocado. (ultimate tuna roll).

Also dig this same roll, but with unagi (eel), and unagi sauce on the top, tuna/avocado in the middle.

Maki Maki in the spectrum is ok at best. You need to try Wasa Sushi in newport or the one at the Irvine Market Place off Jamboree.
