1. Not realistic about what the site will do in the beggining
2. Not willing to sacrafice and putting too much of a financial burden on their sites ( pulling money out ) instead of putting it back into the business.
3. Not willing to keep the day job for at least a year to give their business a chance to grow.
4. Want it quick and easy.
5. not willing to learn and do the work.

1. They don't understand that their job is to "market" a product and they never figure out who their market is, or even that there is a specific market for their site(s).

2. They never figure out what the biz is actually about and who butters they're bread.

3. They follow all the fads like good little sheep.

4. Little technical knowledge.

5. They do absolutely zero analysis of the leaders, the competition, or the visitors to their site. Hell, they don't even know they need to do that or if they do, how to go about doing it.

6. I need a sixth one because most of them are lazy and think they can hire people to do things for them, never understanding that by doing it themselves they may actually learn something.

to many think its a get rich over night and give up after a few months.

not following rules to get their free sites listed with LL's

they don't do anything.

no money to keep running.

they dont really give a fuck and mess things up for the established sites.

1) They are lazy with no discipline, motivation or focus.

2) They wanted to get rich quick and when it didn't happen, they called Don Lepre, made millions with him and lived happily ever after.

3) A guy gets a camera and start making porn. He catches some nasty STDs... say Herpes and a bad case of Gonorrhea where his cock is dripping and his piss burns like the Heat Miser. He then has to confess to his loving and faithful girlfriend that he has been making porn behind her back, fucking whores and using her trust fund money to bankroll the entire operation. She pulls a Lorena Bobbit on him while he is sound asleep dreaming of all the riches he will make and all the girls he will fuck in the porn industry. The end.

Oh, absolutely. I don't actually see how anybody can fail in this business, because everything you do is cumulative. It took me forever (working part time) to start seeing any rent-sized checks, but I was always in it for the long haul. The first gallery I ever built is still out there in modified form, hauling in a few search engine hits and sending traffic and pagerank to my current projects. You can't fail, all you can do is quit before you succeed.

My biggest mistake was a reluctance to spend money. Any moron knows that a new business takes *forever* to get going if you bootstrap it up from nothing with no capital except your initial tiny profits. And yet, that's what I did. It worked, but it took me a year longer than it needed to.
