How many of you are on "Atkins" like diets?

Just curious to see how many of you fat bastards have caved in and started a low carb diet?

I'm down over 60 pounds this year on my own version of it

Yes it does work, and no I don't mind a little kidney damage in the process

Atkins won't damage your kidneys as long as they are healthy to begin with and you drink enough water.

I dunno, I drink over a gallon of water a day and it feels like I'm being kidney punched

But seriously, just sick of everyone ripping on it, I mean it works, you are never hungry and it's so much fun to cheat too

Gleem, do you use alot of salt? I've heard that excessive salt intake can cause kidney problems while on the Atkins diet.

no, but I do eat alot of mayo

You can get kidney/liver damage from being in "ketosis" for too long without an assload of water.

you need a minimum of 64oz of water a day from what I've read.

i dont do the nazi atkins version with no carbs... but i've cut back alot of the bread, beer, and any kind of fast food and it's definately made a difference...

also cutting down on the soda helped alot, but i miss that caffiene/sugar rush throughout the day.

if you stick to the simple rules, you will lose weight:

No Sugar
No White Flour
No white Rice

(no candy, junkfood, bread of any form other than whole grain, and especially no fucking pop at all!)

if you want to lose weight faster stick to under 20 carbs a day and don't use any of the "Net Carb" bullshit, it's all a marketing ploy.

Like any other restrictive "diet", don't start on it unless you're willing to stay on it for the rest of your life. If you stop, you body will over-react to whatever it is you had been "restricting" and you'll end up bigger than when you started.

The only way to lose weight properly is to be sensible. Eat more fruits & veggies. Avoid processed foods. And exercise like you fucking mean it! At least 3 days a week, go to the gym & work out a few hours. Weight train. Gain muscle and your metobalism will increase and you'll burn fat just sleeping.

Yeah I agree with Gleem
I mean I still eat Ketchup and shit. I just cut out OBVIOUS health risks like pop, a ton of bread - anything with a lot of sugar... processed meats that sort of thing.

I still eat fruit
And if you want to stay healthy you should too.

I mean who ever thought of cutting out fruit is stupid.
