Some questions for women that run their own amateur site (Ivy, Vanilla, etc) - GoFuckYourself.com

I am setting up a amateur site for a client (AngelKitty) and we are trying to decide on a couple of things and was hoping you could give some advice.

AngelKitty likes to select which pics she wants to put on the site and tends to be more Playboy style than Club, Velvet, or Swank style. As a result she tends to crop or eliminate pictures quite a bit because she just doesn't "like" the picture or there is just something wrong with it.

So here are the questions:

Is there a minimum size that a picture should be?
Can she use pics even if they are not perfectly in focus?
Since these are amateur pics, should she use one if there is something in the pic that shouldn't be there?
Should she still use the pic if there are some bad shadows but other aspects of the pic are good?
Some photo sets she will do hardcore stuff (Swank) and other times she is totally Playboy. Do you think that customers would have a problem with this?
What would you recommend as to the minimum number of updates per month to a site? I realize more is better.
Do your customers have a preference as to how the gallery pics are laid out?
Do you create your member galleries by hand/template or do you use a application? I recommended to AngelKitty to use a gallery builder or application but she wants to make each photo set gallery unique.

More questions:

* When cropping the pics, should we try and keep them all the same ratio? Can some be square and others be very rectangular or should they all stay around the same ratio?
* Should we we try and keep all of the photos the same size or can some be large and others be small.

I'm asking because AngelKitty may hate everything in a pic except maybe an extreme crop of her face so some pics may be 800x600 and then some may be only 100x100 or 400x100.

I run my own amateur site and shoot and edit all my own pics, so I only put up pics I like. I also pay a lot of attention to good lighting and all that because I want my pictures to look professional (kind of an oxymoron since I run an amateur site), but the customers could care less about that. They do want large pictures that are good - so unless you're putting up webcam pictures, they probably want at least 800x600 size. I don't know if they care if the pictures are different sizes or not. I do all my galleries by hand but a lot of people also use gallery builders. I try to update my site a few times a week, and have 24/7 cams so that people don't get bored.

And as to what type of content - just have her shoot whatever she feels comfortable doing, and reflect that in the guest portion of the site, and get traffic that matches the content. My site is tame, and I'm sure I'm losing a ton of money, but I do what I like, and try to make it unique, and people can take it or leave it.

I think you're worrying too much about the small stuff. Members want to see everything & as long as you're putting up large (800X600 & up) pics, they won't care if the odd few are cropped differently & are smaller.

I used Photoshop for my galleries for years & recently switched to Arles which is much faster. She probably wants to make galleries by hand right now...but when you're updating a couple of times a week & answering member requests & building traffic & doing cam shows...you run out of time pretty quickly & it's a total pain in the ass.

As far as softcore vs. hardcore, like Jen said, it's all in your traffic. If you shoot a couple of hardcore sets & use those ones for galleries but your tour is softcore, your conversions will suck. For the ones who *do* sign up, they'll either demand more hardcore or cancel right away.

If she's mostly comfortable with softcore, stick with softcore & sign up for traffic trades/friends pages with like minded sites.

haha yeah the braces thing is pretty odd! I wanted to get braces, so I figured I could make my money back by taking pictures of them as well. It's working out really well and the braces site converts like crazy from braces sources. Aside from Little April and Teen Kelly, my site is "the" site for the small minority of viewers that are braces lovers.

I've been running an amateur site at http://www.justinesbedroom.com/index_ap.html with my wife Justine for over five years and thought maybe I can help with some of your questions.

1 - All photos that we add now are 800x600. We did start adding bigger photos and several members said they were too big. We only add photos that are in focus.

2 - Our photos are made in our home and I think it is good to have stuff left in the photo that shows its really amateur.

3 - We only add hardcore photosets. I think you have to be extremely attractive and sexy to do softcore sets.

4 - I think you should try to update at least three times a week to keep members. We update five days a week with new photosets, movies, erotic stories etc.

5. We add text to photo galleries from Justine saying how she felt etc. while the photos were taken which the members love.

6. I have a custom made gallery generator.

7. Our photos are all different shapes and some are a bit bigger and some a bit smaller but we try to keep to about 800x600
