How reliable are Afternic´s domain appraisals? - GoFuckYourself.com

Please,

A question to people used to buying and selling domains (not my case).

I paid Afternic to get a domain appraised. According to them, the CMV (Current Market Value) is $ 7,400 and the PMV (Potential Market Value) is $ 31,200.

I am using the domain to host an adult site, but it can be used to promote non-adult sites.
I think the domain is more valuable for non-adult business (that´s why I won´t mention it here), and I am thinking about putting the domain for sale on a few domain auction sites.

Questions: based on Afternic appraisal, what would be a good initial asking price? Any tips on how to get the best possible value?

I don´t need an appraisal, I already have one; the problem is that it´s very broad.

AFtenic put the value somewhere between $7,400 and $31,000.
Should I try to sell it for $ 7,000, or should I try to get something closer to $ 30,000, or should I just ignore the Afternic appraisal?

Could anyone with experience in domains trading direct me to some helpful site?

In my experience, the domain appraisal services overstate the domain's worth ... not saying that the domain can't be worth those bucks though.

That's why people asked for the domain name, to see if the domain is worth its appraised value...

You fell into a scam. . . why don't you pay someone more qualified. Look at the shit names those guys sell ?

We all could have given you an appraisal for free.

OR the guys at dnforum.com or domainstate.com or I'd even recommend Sedo.com (although I think you pay there ) all over afternic.

Most names Afternic appraises for thousands are worth nothing. The only value is you can show suckers the "official appraisal" when you try to sell it.
