Wow, I can't believe the disrespect some of you people have.

So if you're in the industry and you're at a show your giving people the right to plaster your face all over the internet?

Right.....

I'm on strike. I no longer want my picture taken at conventions! If you see me please do not try.

Thank You!

(Webgurl, you have every right in the world to ask for every picture to be taken down, even if you posed)

The fucked thing is that the first 2 that I think of are fairly well known but nobody knows WTF they even do for the companies that are sending them to the shows. If you send an employee to a show and people know they are with you but have no clue what they do then that kinda defeats the purpose of them attending....Dontcha think?

Maybe it's me but if I am putting out cash to send somebody to a webmaster event, I would expect more of a return on my investment than having my 95 pound employee drunk out of her mind and making an ass of herself when she bursts into tears because she can't handle reality.

I am tired of seeing mental breakdowns from these needy little bitches.

Once again I am expressing my own personal opinions and the chances are that some people will not like what I have to say....Most likely because they are the needy little bitches that I am referring to. If you had a breakdown in front of me in ATL or SD then yes, I am taking about you. Get over it.

Hey Aaron, you know its a funny thing, watching most people at the last few shows my partners were just talking about how funny it is that people just think it some kind of "frat party" not a show or biz?

Kind of sad, as an owner would never ever hire any of these people or work with them.

By the way, it was funny running into your guys at World Famous in San Diego.....:

icu33774 06-21-2004 01:09 AM

Man i cant belive i read this whole thread. I understand were Aaron m comes from and the rest of you also. But if you are at a show and representing a company and you are drunk and doing drugs and acting like a complete ass you have no business there.

Now the hollywood show will be me and my partners first show. Neither one of us drink or do drugs. But my partner has has a real hard time dealing with stupid people. This could get ugly:(

Agreed :thumbsup

I was sort of off to the side so I really don't know what the argument was about, but....I did notice that JFK was visibly upset at Webgurl. Sort of funny come to think of it: this big guy yelling down at little Webgurl. ;-)

Point is, I'm sure she's not the first one to request her photo not be taken/removed, nor will she be the last. That's a fact of life in your line of work and you should respect the wishes of your subject matter.

If you did go off on her publicly like she says you did -- and quite frankly it sure appeared that way from what I remember -- than that shows an utter lack of class and professionalism. Maybe you were drunk, maybe you were having a bad day, whatever; if what she says is an accurate description of what transpired, the correct thing to do would be to apologize and buy her a drink at the next show.

:2 cents:

Sorry, but I have to disagree. There is a certain person (male) that has made it clear to me that he does not want to be posted at FUBAR, so I make a point of avoiding him in shots, but it is not fair to delete a great shot of 7 or 8 well-known people because 1 doesn't want to be in it.

The people that have their buttons on the bottom of those pics paid for the advertising, and it is not like everyone doesn't know what JFK (and to a lesser extent, me) are going to do with the pics.

Webgurl let me know early on she did not want me to take her picture, so I stopped, but the last day she told me I could take her picture. I was hesitant because I did not really want to take it just to have it removed . . . (but I did for my personal stash anyway)

Thanks for wanting me in your personal stash :) haha ...

Once again I will repeat myself i did mention to JFK specifically on the bus in Phoneix i donot want my pics taken by him he looks at me and laughed not sure what that meant exactly ....

Anyways about the 7-8 peeps in the pics were u referring to me ? This was never the case I never participated in group pic like that and asked for it to be removed , if so name these people that I interfered with because I was in the pic or get atleast one of them to post in this thread .
I did say that I don't mind being in the backround of pics because that is almost unavoidable at these shows . My only problem is to be shot at directly thats all .

Baddog , you know how I feel about pics as well so you should know better do you think I would purposely pose for pics and knowingly have it put up and asking to remove it afterwards ?

This topic is pointless without any proof for which i supplied all infact , I even have the actual PIC that i requested to be removed . If i post it here trust me you can see clearly its a face of no don't take my pic ! (if you are that noisey email me I will send it to you)
Also , why do you guys keep changing the topic about this whole picture thing i am really over it seriously its not a big deal ....
I brought this to attention because I was mad at the way JFK reacted to me in public :warning

Obviously it is a big deal because you keep replying. The reason I got upset is becuse you did ask me not to take pics , yet you were ready to pose:2 cents:

HUH?

I never said such things.

One incident was in SD and one was in ATL. People did not have to attend both shows in order to be involved. I also never said that they do not atttend any shows.

Rest easy.......For once, you are not the topic of discussion here. I would think that you could have ruled yourself out when you read the parts about them being 95 pounds and well liked....But you were too busy putting words into my mouth...again.

One --- my post was just poking a little fun, why quote me in your rant?

Two -- This is a web-based industry, at the big shows photography happens.

Three -- Shit happens.

Four -- Both photography and shit happens.

Five -- People take pics at shows. There is something to be said for staying away from the shows if you don't want your pic taken.

Six -- people that photographically cover the webmaster shows can't be expected to never make a mistake and include someone they shouldn't in the odd picture. By the same token, photographers should not laugh when someone directly asks them to refrain from taking their picture. Obviously such requests should be taken seriously, as this thread clearly shows.

That's why I was a webmaster for years and been actively promoting our program as one of the affiliates before I got a job as the "manager" The best is to hire a webmaster that has been promoting your program for a substantial amount of time then they have a good idea about the program already ..

I didn't get the job because i am eye candy , hell i don't even take pictures ! :1orglaugh

Re # 6 I do not take pics of people not wanting to, also remove pics on request. Where the problem lies is when you ask for pics not to be taken, and then pose with a friend because you cant say no to them. Then ask to have that same pic removed.
There are all kinds of peeps shooting pics and posting them, good luck in getting them to remove it:2 cents:

That was part of the point I made in my above post. There are all kinds of photographers covering these shows, this is a web-based industry, an image-based industry, a high-profile industry..... I would almost be inclined to suggest that maybe, just maybe, if one feels so utterly and completely anal about not having one's picture taken, that maybe, just maybe, this is not the right business to be working in...... or at the very least they should think about avoiding the shows.

It is pretty unreasonable to demand that your picture not be taken when so many people make their living by covering these events. A person could go mental just trying to track down every photog that shot pics at even one internext, there must be dozens if not hundreds.

I think the moral of this thread is that certain pics should never make the web, like this one for example

This can be point #7 added to my above post.

Seven --- This is a high-tech industry, we are all (or should be all) professionals on one level or another. Let's try to act like it. An all-out public rant with flipping fingers and swearing, especially in front of others, isn't the way to go. Not at a show, not in a restaurant, not anywhere. Even in private there are better ways to drive home a point that keeps things professional.

Threads like this don't always have to be a pissing match. They can also be a learning experience.

CDSmith 06-21-2004 12:19 PM

And Webgirl, you do create quite a problem with your non-photo policy. The problem is that to those of us who have seen your picture.... well, we WANT to see more pics of you. I believe the few glimses of you I've seen in various pics says it all.... you're not so bad to look at.

Stop torturing everyone. You have some loyal fans here. Your ducking and hiding from cameras is annoying to them. :D
