Would you ever spend $200 on a hairdryer?

My bf just spent $215 on a blow dryer. I think it's insane because I'm a girl and don't even spend that much. Plus we already have TWO blowdryers in the house, but I guess he prefers more expensive things.

K, well I'm glad you all think it's too much as well because I thought it was just me, that perhaps I was being cheap to think that's kinda outrageous, especially since he is a guy. He just always likes to buy expensive things but he doesn't make a lot so I think he doesn't know how to manage money.

I make a lot more than him and I would NEVER spend that much on a blow dryer (and I consider myself high-maintenance) but even so, I have better things to spend my money on...

Well,I just asked him and he said the "Coil" inside is better so it distributes heat better so it won't burn his hair, and he said it's the electrical charge is different than in a cheap blowdryer so it's not as harmful to his hair/head.

mmmmm.. mmmkay.. whatevers

This is the one he got http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P85231

I spent about $30,000 on my hair dryer. I just get in with wet hair and by the time I've driven to my destination, my hair is dry.

I don't think I've ever used a hairdryer.

However I am planning on spending ?400 on a metal rod with a grip on the other end and this 'hitting surface' on the other.

Damn thats a pricey hair dryer.

A couple of minutes of research would have saved him a bunch
http://www.folica.com/HAI_Tourmaline__d1755.html
Damn near a copy of that one just not as much "padding" in the description.
This one is still to much for a hair dryer.

I used to be a cosmetologist. Trust me. That dryer is bullshit. All blowdryers damage the hair and scalp if you use them incorrectly.

True... i think he just likes it because it's expensive, everything he buys has to be expensive... he also bought sheets (a while ago) that were over $300 because of the thread count ( I don't even know what the thread count was).

He refuses to use cheap things, only expensive, problem is he doesn't make a lot...and guess who has to pay most of the bills around here?

The fact that he spent so much on a hairdryer doesn't make him a queer. (I'd buy one just because it looks cool)
BUT...
The fact that he knows so much about the heat distribution of the hairdryer does. Either that or he's some type of extreme metro. Who cares about shit like that anyway? Do you have a pic of him?

I would, but then again I spent $200 on a garbage pail for the kitchen (Brabantia) and think nothing of dropping $200 for high thread count sheets.

I use a plain old Vidal Sassoon hair dryer, though, 1850 watts I think, that I bought at Sally Beauty Supply for about $40. Maybe I need to shop around for a new dryer!

hmmm, after reading about the dryer it will dry his hair 60% faster. Washing your hair and drying it once a day and assuming it took 5 mins to dry his hair before he just gained 18 hours and 15 mins of time back per year that would have been used up drying hair. Even if he makes $10/hr the hair dryer has paid for itself in just over a year.

That part in yellow is the key to the situation - stop paying his bills and he'll lose the 'HM' taste real quick. If you have to pay the bills cuz 'Monsieur' has a lifestyle to maintain, then I suggest you give him a reality check & back to earth or lose him.

*I have no problem with living well and large and wanting the finer things in life - if you can afford it, by all means, go for it - even if you want to make debts to do it, I'm not judging. But if you expect the girlfriend to pay for the basics in life cuz you want to live like Rockefeller - then I thing you got to come back to earth*
