Would you ever spend $200 on a hairdryer?

My bf just spent $215 on a blow dryer. I think it's insane because I'm a girl and don't even spend that much. Plus we already have TWO blowdryers in the house, but I guess he prefers more expensive things.

Michael O 08-08-2005 07:53 PM

Sorry to break it to you but he is gay.

Draychi 08-08-2005 08:00 PM

$215 would have taken you out to a nice place to eat and then some. What a fuckhead :321GFY

DateDoc 08-08-2005 08:01 PM

lol, a $215.00 blow dryer!! WTF?? Dude is either gay or very metro. I have not used a blow dryer in like 20 years.

je_rome 08-08-2005 08:10 PM

fuck that's expensive for blow dryer. he's so vain! i wouldn't, but certainly my gf would.

Spunky 08-08-2005 08:12 PM

What makes it so special? is it like a heavy duty salon type?

phogirl69 08-08-2005 08:19 PM

Sorry, i made 2 threads about this, i pressed it twice accidentally... The board froze on me...

He bought from a beauty supply store (I saw the receipt), it's ionic.

k, I just wanted to know if most people thought it was normal, because I sure don't think it is...

sniperwolf 08-08-2005 08:25 PM

that's too expensive for a blowdryer, but i guess some of us are really has a thing for expensive stuff...

phogirl69 08-08-2005 08:30 PM

K, well I'm glad you all think it's too much as well because I thought it was just me, that perhaps I was being cheap to think that's kinda outrageous, especially since he is a guy. He just always likes to buy expensive things but he doesn't make a lot so I think he doesn't know how to manage money.

I make a lot more than him and I would NEVER spend that much on a blow dryer (and I consider myself high-maintenance) but even so, I have better things to spend my money on...

kowntafit 08-08-2005 08:39 PM

Wow! Must spend a lot of time drying his hair.

phogirl69 08-08-2005 09:39 PM

Well,I just asked him and he said the "Coil" inside is better so it distributes heat better so it won't burn his hair, and he said it's the electrical charge is different than in a cheap blowdryer so it's not as harmful to his hair/head.

mmmmm.. mmmkay.. whatevers :eek7

This is the one he got http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P85231

NetRodent 08-08-2005 10:29 PM

I spent about $30,000 on my hair dryer. I just get in with wet hair and by the time I've driven to my destination, my hair is dry.

tristan_D 08-08-2005 10:48 PM

no I won't. I'd rather spend it on something else.

nofx 08-08-2005 10:51 PM

no fucking way

davecummings 08-08-2005 10:56 PM

Not me!

Dave
Bald guy---VERY bald!

PixeLs 08-08-2005 11:08 PM

I don't really give a damn on my hair.

Jakke PNG 08-08-2005 11:14 PM

I don't think I've ever used a hairdryer.

However I am planning on spending ?400 on a metal rod with a grip on the other end and this 'hitting surface' on the other.

sinmaster 08-08-2005 11:18 PM

Damn thats a pricey hair dryer.

A couple of minutes of research would have saved him a bunch
http://www.folica.com/HAI_Tourmaline__d1755.html
Damn near a copy of that one just not as much "padding" in the description.
This one is still to much for a hair dryer.

titmowse 08-08-2005 11:25 PM

I used to be a cosmetologist. Trust me. That dryer is bullshit. All blowdryers damage the hair and scalp if you use them incorrectly.

True... i think he just likes it because it's expensive, everything he buys has to be expensive... he also bought sheets (a while ago) that were over $300 because of the thread count ( I don't even know what the thread count was).

He refuses to use cheap things, only expensive, problem is he doesn't make a lot...and guess who has to pay most of the bills around here?

BellaSeaira 08-08-2005 11:58 PM

Shit I can't belive the price of thet hair dryer! Why does he need such an expensive hair dryer? I dont think I could ever bring myself to spend $200 on a hair dryer.

digifan 08-09-2005 12:15 AM

I prefer spending on hair dressers too.. :)

emthree 08-09-2005 12:31 AM

The fact that he spent so much on a hairdryer doesn't make him a queer. (I'd buy one just because it looks cool)
BUT...
The fact that he knows so much about the heat distribution of the hairdryer does. Either that or he's some type of extreme metro. Who cares about shit like that anyway? Do you have a pic of him?

emthree 08-09-2005 12:33 AM

What's a thread count?
Number of stiches or something?

Theo 08-09-2005 12:34 AM

your bf is a metro
soon he'll borrow your makeup equipment

VeriSexy 08-09-2005 12:42 AM

That dude has major problems if he spends so much on a freaky hairdryer :2 cents:

reed_4 08-09-2005 02:33 AM

Hey, don't look in a negative side. Your Bf just want to give you a costly gift that you would cherish. That only shows he value you a lot and loves you.

naugthygUrL 08-09-2005 02:33 AM

thats too expensive.. i can't imagine a guy would spend $200 on a hairdryer

Sarah_Jayne 08-09-2005 05:00 AM

the answer is no. $20 is borderline for me.

HairToStay 08-09-2005 05:07 AM

I would, but then again I spent $200 on a garbage pail for the kitchen (Brabantia) and think nothing of dropping $200 for high thread count sheets.

I use a plain old Vidal Sassoon hair dryer, though, 1850 watts I think, that I bought at Sally Beauty Supply for about $40. Maybe I need to shop around for a new dryer!

Dalai lama 08-09-2005 05:21 AM

Your boyfriend must be gay.

DateDoc 08-09-2005 05:30 AM

hmmm, after reading about the dryer it will dry his hair 60% faster. Washing your hair and drying it once a day and assuming it took 5 mins to dry his hair before he just gained 18 hours and 15 mins of time back per year that would have been used up drying hair. Even if he makes $10/hr the hair dryer has paid for itself in just over a year.

You could have gotten this trash can for that price and it has an infra red sensor that opens the lid so you dont have to touch it http://www.touchlesstrashcan.com/sha...MTC=advan ced

ATKCash 08-09-2005 05:39 AM

I gave my wife a $300 professional hair dryer for Christmas once. She loves it and says SHE can tell the difference. I don't use a hair dryer, but if it makes her happy....

swedguy 08-09-2005 05:42 AM

I don't own a brush, comb and even less a hair dryer. So NO, I would not spend $215 on a hair dryer.

Extreme Robyn 08-09-2005 06:45 AM

I spent $120.00 on my straightener

AmeliaG 08-09-2005 06:48 AM

I have a $200 flat iron, so probably, yes, I would.

demented 08-09-2005 06:51 AM

I wouldn't spend over $10 on a hairdryer.

Sephora right. You know that store is 1% women and 99% gay? My gf shops there in Paris on the Champs, any girl can spend a week there.

Last time we went they had a liveshow of studs half nekkid in some sailor outfit to promote aftershave.

That part in yellow is the key to the situation - stop paying his bills and he'll lose the 'HM' taste real quick. If you have to pay the bills cuz 'Monsieur' has a lifestyle to maintain, then I suggest you give him a reality check & back to earth or lose him.

*I have no problem with living well and large and wanting the finer things in life - if you can afford it, by all means, go for it - even if you want to make debts to do it, I'm not judging. But if you expect the girlfriend to pay for the basics in life cuz you want to live like Rockefeller - then I thing you got to come back to earth*

Never!!!!!!!!!

it's just a waste of money...

Phoenix 08-11-2005 11:56 AM

how long is his hair? he needs a hair dryer?

EroticySteve 08-11-2005 11:57 AM

My hair is falling out because of cheap hair dryers. Buy expensive one. Oh, actually my hair is falling out because of genetics, never mind don't waste hundreds of dollars on a stupid hair dryer.
