I have a free site so that club owners will remember who I am. I put it up after surfing here for a few months (before I ever registered). But it was reading posts here and talking with other ladies who run their own sites that has encouraged me to make mine into a pay site instead.

Actually, TrixieRacer gave out her latitude and longitude in her "meet me for sushi at 9 at this restaurant" thread.

***

I'm biting my tongue on a bunch of shit in this thread and trying to remember that the people who really are here to do business (and even more importantly, do good business with ME) are probably not the same misogynistic pencildicks blaming women for the downfall of GFY and western civilization.

I don't want more surfers to come here either, but trust: if our (meaning indie webgirls'/personalities') members took one look at the disrespectful shit spouted by the "men" behind the run-of-the-mill corporate type of sites all it would do is strengthen our membership base, not increase our competition. It cracks me up how little these webmasters know about the buying habits of the people who pay their bills.

I agree that if everyone has such a big problem with the proliferation of dipshits who have nothing to contribute in an adult industry discussion then password protect the board . . . start up your own board and make it by invitation only . . . require people to register to view posts . . . even better, require people to actually fucking put a website in their profile so everyone knows who they are and what their business is here.

It's totally fucked up someone would blame the GFY women and the fucking panties and tank top for luring surfers here when people constantly post stories about (and pictures of) wearing their GFY shirts out to go shopping or stroll on the boardwalk or whatever. When has anyone been called out on that before this thread?

I remember when we posted scores on a geek quiz here many moons ago . . . you were one of the smartest, most well-rounded, bonafide "geeks" on board. And I mean that in a good way ;). You have way more business and more to offer on this board than an asscracker like groove. All of the smart people know that.

Go figure.

Your poll is showing that about 17% of respondents identify as being surfers. So *if* your poll was representative of GFY members overall, there's a hell of a lot more than 5 surfers! Furthermore there are large numbers of people on this board who claim to be webmasters, but clearly don't have even the vaguest understanding of the biz.

Obviously time has passed since I posted the results earlier. Grab a brain.

And lots of webmasters are qualifying their responses, saying they were webmasters but are now retired and still come to GFY, or that they are not webmasters, but still employed in the biz, so they weren't sure what to check off in the poll.

KCat 06-16-2004 12:47 AM

Sorry to burst your bubble boys, but the giant WEBMASTERS MAKE MONEY $$$ links on the front of every single fucking web site are far more likely to bring more surfers into the fold than a few horny guys in chat rooms.

I don't like the idea of surfers on here, but I think it's a fact of life with a board this big. Another board I post at had surfers/camgirl members showing up the first month it was open.

If it's not pass protected, surfers will find it.

BTW, Loryn has already answered this question:

"FYI all the GFY clothes can be worn ANYWHERE and ANYTIME.
(except around children ) We want you to wear them. We wouldn't send out tons of free shirts if we didn't want everyone to see and know about GFY!!!!"

Doesn't really matter what any of us personally think if the official GFY stance is flaunt it.

I'd love a pass protected board that verifies webmaster identity with whois info, but sponsors ain't gonna be coughing up big ad revenues when the page views are so low. *shrug*

Second tell me if we are so concerned with surfers finding this board, then why isn't under password protection? Why is it open to being spidered by Google?

Third, tell me why you are so afraid of a few surfers. If they lose interest, then they will lurk for a while and then go away. If they are interested in getting into the business of adult, then they will be just another newbie, which happens in every industry, all the time.

Fourth, did someone just call me stupid? And a camwhore?

Hi Elli, I think we happen to run into each other once on another post on gfy. That doesnt matter. I am saying hello here now!

Reason for replying like this is only to give you a pat on the back. I admire your work and what you have done.

I have noticed what people say as I read their replys. Now thinking outside the square I am in, by saying that by introducing a newbie to GFY can only be a positive move towards generating more business to the hosting company's Traffic & Content Company's and Paysite Companies, (these only come to mind) ie;

Order of Operation.
*Surfer finding and reading GFY!
*Surfer clicks on a cig from a post.
*Surfer becomes an newbie webmaster.
*Newbie pays for host (new business)
*Newbie pays for content ( " ")
*Newbie generates a few sales
*Newbie continue to increase hosting and more content.
*Newbie now buys traffic

The circle only gets bigger.

In closing. I would like to add that every major sponsor we send traffic to has a webmaster link on it so I can not see for a second why would someone try to assume (ass/u/me) that by doing what you have done has any inpack on surfers finding an adult webmaster board like GFY!

Have a great day!

I think you're coming across as being pretty arrogant about this. Wearing the shirt during shows absolutely contributes to the problem of all these new morons that come join GFY every day. We don't need anyone contributing to the problem.

And it sounds like you're more than happy to add to the chaos, while completely disregarding everyone's concerns. :2 cents:

I am on a roll , and was creataing drama.. am I usually like this?.. not on the norm darling.. have no fear. Arrogant I am not, for real I am...blunt as hell sometimes..some can handle me some can't..not my problem

disregard for others.. that is not me. Anyone that knows me knows what a crock of shit that is.

As far as agreeing with certain scared individuals that don't own this board but want to make the rules..sorry, not I, said the C_U_N_T .

This board is called GOFUCKYOURSELF ..it thrives on page views, hits , surfers , and business, and lets not forget...DRAMA.

If you want a board that is password protected so you don't have the "problem" of surfers (those evil fuckers that we make our money off of) then I highly suggest you make your own and password protect that bitch...k...everyone keeps talking about this problem of morons on GFY and I have to laugh at the year and 1/2 I have been here the moronic level has stayed the same.. it has a great influx in the summer when kids are out of school..those guys don't visit my cam show BTW, but this board always has freaks running about.

Are these surfers stopping you from making money? Do they hurt your business? if so please elaborate

:glugglug :glugglug

kelly 06-16-2004 06:14 AM

Here's an experiment to try, someone register a random adult chat board domain, give out free thong/top sets to all the cam girls on here with the logo on and see how many surfers come over and register or sign up as an affiliate to your programs - you could make a fortune :winkwink:

C_U_Next_Tuesday 06-16-2004 06:39 AM

I find it sad that webmasters have lots of other good boards to do business on, but they come here and can't find it in their capabilities to be able to distinguish the bullshit from business ? this seems to piss them off and they want to point the finger at surfers and tell everyone what a problem they are.

On the other hand, we need more women on this board to arrogantly disregard the opinions of fucktards and tell them to stick their holier-than-thou ignorance up their fucking asses.

Elli 06-16-2004 09:48 AM

Hell, if a signature gets x amount of views a month, then surely live video of a girl promoting your site can be worth that much more, right? :Graucho

M00d, just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them useless to argue with. If you have a logical argument, crack it open and let's see it.

Monaro, well met and well said! Since when did surfers become the enemy? I know my members are years more mature than the "morons" people are complaining about here. And if they follow their heart's desires properly, they'll likely end up cracking open their wallets for someone here at least once. So... what's the problem again?

Your sites?? What are your sites?? I don't see any links to your sites, just a bunch of hot air and steady stream of insults coming from you.

Useless to converse with? Erroneous beliefs? Ummm . . . I hardly think Loryn's directive that we wear the GFY attire wherever, whenever, and spread the word to the masses renders our beliefs erroneous. You guys believing YOU run the board are the ones in error.

YOU are the foolish one if you think that any one of us indie webwhores would lose a single member to any shitty-ass site you may run. Hell, I'll wear your url for an hour long show for FREE . . . because I don't think you even have a site to promote.

All of that aside, do you guys not understand the concepts of traffic trades and ad space and how we GET our members? Most personality-based indie websites get members from other indie girls -- our members join more than one site at a time, and we promote each other -- we don't LOSE members by advertising other sites, we GAIN members. Another successful webwhore doesn't mean fewer members for those of us running high-quality, unique websites . . . it means more.

Take the example of TrixieRacer expanding from her dancing career to create a web presence and paysite. You may think that another "Trixie" online would be bad for my own business. On the contrary, she will bring new surfers with credit cards online who are fans of her dancing. Will that hurt me? Hell no! Will my members jump ship and go join her site? They might join her site, but hers won't "replace" mine because we offer different things (ex. she doesn't do hardcore).

Guys on this board spend so much time bullshitting with each other and passing along myths about porn consumers when they've never even TALKED to a member. I think Elli, C_U_N_T, and the rest of us know our membership base better than you do. We know when we can upsell to them. We know when we can advertise other sites without fearing "competition". We know we can tell them about other chicks' sites we like because all that does is make them join BOTH thinking someday they might see us licking each others pussies. :Graucho

Ok, this has been a long read...and I read the entire thing because the first post had me questioning and I thought perhaps it would be answered and I don't think it has.

So here is the question:

Why did you originally decide to wear your GFY gear on your camshow?
1. Lack of clean underwear?
2. Running late and didn't have time to change?
3. You were hoping that the people watching your camshow would join GFY and vote for you in the MissGFY contest.

Hey, what you all do is your business since Lensman and Loryn says to wear it....I was just curious why you would wear it on a camshow. Now I don't do camshows...but I would think that you would opt for something more on the sexy/seductive side rather than an advertisment for an adult webmaster board.

Freedom also means that people are allowed to answer questions directed at them without having to have you answer the questions for them. You seem to have your claws out dearie, and I am attacking no one. I was curious as to why, at no time did i state someone owed me an answer, at no time did i say they did not have a right to wear it...at no time did i question thier motives...it was curiosity...so retract your claws honey and go rip apart someone that is personally attacking you...

Personally, I wouldn't wear GFY stuff on cam for a whole different reason. My site is built on the basis that I'm doing this for the pure love of it, which is true. I AM here because it can help me maximize traffic and subscribers while still doing what I love.

BUT, if my loyal members whom I maintain personal connections with suddenly start seeing me as a commercial endeavour... things change. I want to remain as uncommercial (hehe, I wrote "unprofessional" first, but that kind of gives the wrong impression) as possible. No one from my site knows about the contest either.

It's just like how you don't put fake nails and platform heels on a girl like Little April :2 cents:

Steph, very interesting take on why you wouldn't wear GFY gear....and you know...it does make sense. As I stated before, I don't do cam stuff but I would assume that you would get some very loyal people who see you as something like a friend...and seeing commercialization might dash that image. I never thought of things that way...thanks for posting.

Some of us market ourselves as more than a naive set of tits and ass pretending we're only online to make friends and virtual playmates. Being open about the fact that we're webmasters, photographers, etc. and do EVERYTHING (or almost everything) on our sites is *part* of the allure. Smart AND sexy! Plus, people are always interested in the business part of porn -- those of us who are honest about the fact that we're running a BUSINESS have members who appreciate that. When members see that we're totally in charge of our websites, they know everything is "real" and there's no guy answering their emails or creating a fakey webgirl persona for them.

Why did you originally decide to wear your GFY gear on your camshow?
1. Lack of clean underwear?
2. Running late and didn't have time to change?
3. You were hoping that the people watching your camshow would join GFY and vote for you in the MissGFY contest.

I don't do camshows, but I've been wearing my GFY tank & panties because they're super fucking comfortable. The material is soft & smooth, they both fit perfectly & are flattering.

I wore the panties to my soccer game last night! lol
