I use comus and it catches people changing links. Unless both link codes are the same number of characters it changes the size of the html file, and then you're caught.

And some scripts check the files modification date. That's the other way it could catch you.

Believe me, we all want to see it put to rest, I have honestly never heard of a situtation like this, and I'm seriously rethinking how we do business.

Anyhow...with creative marketing on a FPA, it's easy to offer an alternative solution to the surfer and stay completely honest. You don't send them directly to another sponsor with the existing creative. That IS dishonest, as you are showing content that might not be available at the other sponsor's site.


And, in closing...if you are already sending a note out to all of the TGP owners...why not tell them that you are changing the link...
That way they don't have to contend with your 404's...and you still have all of your galleries producing sales...albeit, probably dramatically reduced.


But, I have my own business to contend to...so figuring out the rest is up to you.

Oh this isn't even taking into account the paid spots that were used for this sponsor.. these are straight up partner accounts that would be threatened. And it's more than that. The whole thing is happening on FALSE pretenses.

Or the other favourite, adding a few cross-sells that also need to be cancelled...again 24 hours before end of trial..or else the surfer then has 2 or 3 more FULL PRICE memberships to contend to.

I am guessing that the above is true. Very few straight forward, honest programs will convert in the manner you have indicated.

I assume there is more to the story. the sponsor has some BS issue or they woul dnot feel so easy in pushing it down stream to you. the content is not properly licensed or soemthing like that. I am guessing.

But if that is the case can they give you content to just replace the old stuff with? You could let the owners know and just upload the new pics. Sure the gallery might be sort of "off" but better then 404 ing their shit.

If the site switched out of their system you could jsut make a deal directly with the site. Iamsure you have thought of all of this but 404 seems like the worst way to do it.
