So what if gays want to get married? WTF is the big deal?

WTF? I'm not gay, but I don't have anything against gays(unless they repeatedly kiss and make out in front of me. Keep that shit in private)

But wtf is the big deal of them getting married? Why should everyone else care? Why should we change the constitution to make gay marriages illegal?

Mind your own fucking business, and let people live how they want to live. Fucking ridiculous.

Companies would have to pay millions of dollars a year in benefits to people that they dont have to pay for now.

I don't see what the problem is either. I think the $ aspect is a bullshit reason, but that is just my opinion. I figure that it is hard enough for people to find love nowadays, so who the hell are we to tell them that they cannot get married. We let any twit who is legal age tie the knot, hell that's how Vegas chapels survive, but if it's two people of the same sex suddenly it's wrong? Please!

It has to do with money yes, But here in Massachusetts, its more of a religious thing.... Weve had to deal with Homo Priests and now Homo's in general

Only assholes oppose gay marriage.
The kind of people that have to put THEIR lives on other people.

Most normal people who are secure in themselves don't care as long as it doesn't effect them, which gay marriage wont.

Now marriages have started in mass and the world is still turning. No one lost any rights, any money, it hasn't effected straight people, and everyone is happy. So eventually more states will pick it up.

It's like getting into a hot tub for the first time, you put your toe in and you're not comfortable with it. Then you go in more and more and eventually you see it's no big deal and might even like it.

Its definately a big deal...and I dont think I will ever like it, but i do not oppose it. But the first time I see a gay marriage in a religious chapel or setting, I will definately have a BIG problem with it...

Marriage has been around for thousands of years for one purpose: CHILDREN Quit saying it doesnt effect straight people when our companies have to lower our health care benefits to pay for all the new gay spouses health care as well.

Too fucking bad to you. It has nothing to do with rights. Marriage isnt a right. The government has to give straight people a marriage license.

Individual cases of straight married people not having kids are irrelevant. Marriage: man and woman.

\Mar"riage\, n. [OE. mariage, F. mariage. See Marry, v. t.] 1. The act of marrying, or the state of being married; legal union of a man and a woman for life, as husband and wife; wedlock; matrimony.

So who is the husband and who is the wife in a gay marriage?

religious people would probably think it goes against the institution of marriage... marriage has religious meanings, and homosexuality is shunned by most religions.

You dont know shit about being oppressed. Have you ever been gay bashed? have you ever lost a job because people found out you were gay?
have you ever been kicked out of your home because your family found out you were gay?
have you ever had to hide that secret from everyone you love because you were afraid what would happen if they found out?
Do you know what it's like living a lie?

Do you know what it's like to go for a walk with the man/woman you love and not be able to hold hands because you're afraid of the reaction you'll get from other people?

i dont really care but, think about this marriage has always been a religious union of two people, so why would you wanna get married under a belief system thats says you will go to hell for being gay.

I repeat:

Not letting gays get married is not opression. Its nature. Go take your anger on society out somewhere else because I never said its ok to fire someone for being gay. Guess what? Gays CAN get married. A gay man can marry any women that will let him.

Actually it was often used to unite two groups that otherwise disliked each other or to strengthen two groups finacially.

Obviously marriage would make them happy if that's what they're fighting for.

These gay couple who want to get married are people who have been in relationships for years, for some it's decades. Why not let them get married and protect themselves (and their kids) legally?

These aren't the "I want to marry 5 people" types you talked about earlier.
These are adults who are productive members of society and people want to opress them by imposing their "Marriage is a sin" religious bullshit on them.

A contract or a will would do the trick wouldnt it?

LOL. That was an example. If a man can marry a man why cant I marry a man and a woman? I'm not saying gay marriage is a sin, I'm saying gay marriage cant possibly exist because marriage = husband and wife, i.e. male and female.

So people should marry someone of the opposite sex in order to make YOU happy? Thats pretty fucking rude. Like saying a black man can only marry a black woman because a black man marrying a white woman "just wouldn't be right".

Remember what I said in my first post about assholes who put THEIR lives on other people.
again this isn't 1940 anymore and people are tired of living by unfair rules.

you treat people unfairly long enough and they will show you a thing or two.

no offense but using the law as an excuse is just plain ignorant to stop gay marriages. i believe a short while ago it was illegal for women to read, slavery was lawful, african americans couldnt attend white schools, abortion rights, etc etc etc. hence we can have AMENDMENTS to change the laws that have previously been written. the supreme court does change the codes we live by so please dont mention marriage being unlawful because they have not anything so far to ban them and in the future they might even make it clear that it IS lawful for same sex marriages to occur.

and as for anyone making comments about the definition of marriage, you have got to be kidding on that one also. definitions of words evolve over time. gay once meant happy but now it also has another meaning. new words are also added to dictionaries so does that mean they shouldnt be allowed because they did not exist before? or should we allow them because they have been accepted as a new word into a laguage?

Remember what I said in my first post about assholes who put THEIR lives on other people.
again this isn't 1940 anymore and people are tired of living by unfair rules.

you treat people unfairly long enough and they will show you a thing or two.
FUCKING MORON. Its NOTHING like saying a black man marrying a white woman wouldnt be right. Its people like you and Omarosa that cause anger in this world.
