Ugh, I hate cleaning my fish tank.

Accidently left the water siphoning for too long and emptied a little over 3/4 of my 90 gallon tank.
Couldnt find the stupid attachment to hook the hose up to the tap so I had to MANUALLY fill it with a 5 gallon bucket. Thats alot of damn buckets.
The water and filter are cleaner now though. Didnt bother scraping the algae, but Im on my way to the fish store now to see what kind of algae eaters I can find that wont just get eaten by my fish (Its only the Congo Puffer and 8" Red Oscar that are mean bastards).

Anyone else have a decent sized tank? Lets see pics and a description of what fish you have.

I just have a 29 gallon with some African cichlids in there. I went to Chicago this weekend, and got back and a big male Kenyi had killed a female that it bred with.

Fuckin' fish. Now I need to clean the tank, etc..but I'm pissed at the fish. They're grounded.

My dad had a plecostamus (sp?) that did well for many years. Get a couple dozen and keep refilling them if they get eaten.

puffers will eat and pick at everything that is not fast enough to get away. They have really stong cartilage in their mouths that act like bone hard beaks.

They will eat all your shit sifters and algae suckers. they are great for keeping the snail population in check, though.

oscars are brutes as well.

If you are gonna have aggresive fish, be prepared to buy alot of replacement fish that are lower on the ladder.

Don't they have the Roomba equivelent of an algae cleaner for large tanks?

I got 4 fish tanks, 75g, 40g, 29g, 20g. And a Pond in the backyard. Fish are my hobby In my 75 I have 3 huge Severums, and some assorted African cichlids. 40 gallon has a pair of breeding convicts, a large Firemouth Meekie, Socolofi, and 6 red zebras. 29 gallon is where I raise my babies, right now its empty, it also houses some of the goldfish from the pond during the winter. 20 gallon is my live plant tank, I got some Rosy Barbs, Neon Tetras, and some white cloud mountain minnows in there. In my pond, its pretty small, but still around 300-400 gallons. I have 2 gigantic goldfish, 2 bigger goldfish, 5 small goldfish, a juvenile Firemouth Meekie that I am growing out for the summer, and a female convict that also is growing out there for the summer.

Thats a damn big tank! Whats in it?

Evelyn, the puffer and oscar actually get along really well with the other cichlids I have in the tank. They just dont like other fish for some reason.
The oscar did kill one of my cichlids about 6 months ago. Kinda ate him and decided to spit him back out half chewed. He didnt live long after that.
Im not sure about the roomba type device for algae, but I really wish the puffer wasnt so hard on the snails. They take care of the algae fairly well as long as they arent eaten.
I got two small pleco's again today. Hopefully these ones live.

Freshwater 75 gallon here.

I noticed my tank was easier to maintain after I turned off the undergravel filter years ago. Having to vacuum the gravel several times a year was just too much. Then I added a second biowheel filter to make up for it.

I was also using a good size Fluval canister filter as the 3rd one, but that promptly broke just over a year later. I notice they have since redesigned them.

I've just got two Koi in there that actually belong outside and some tripical stuff. Also a Plecostomous I've had for over 10 years.

The Koi pretty much keep everything torn up. I put a huge Amazon Sword plant in there and they had that totally ripped up in just a few days.

We have a 55 gallon tank and a 25 gallon tank. We have chiclids in the larger tank along with some tiger barbs. Two of our convicts just had fry and they are swimming in their little area. There must be 100 of them....mom and dad keep all the other fish away.

In the smaller tank we have puffer fish and tiger barbs...just added 2 albino barbs in there and they look great. Our tank stays really clean cause we do frequent water changes. We have 2 pleco's in the tank and they seem to keep all of the algae at bay.

Be careful with that. Between the temperature difference and the huge change in water quality you could have some problems. Use LOTs of chemicals man.

I've got a 50 gallon tank. But I recently killed off all my fish. My poor Parrot fish. See above!! Actually, 1 Gourami survived. Poor guy. And I've got this damn algae problem that won't go away so I'm waiting to solve it before I get more fish.

I use the Eheim 2217 filter. Its pretty big and seems to do the job pretty well. Im thinking about getting another one though just so I have to clean the tank less often

140 gallon saltwater tank that I have a service come in twice a month to take care of. Nice thing is I can purchase all fish through them and get a 6 month guarantee. Can't do that in a pet store.

Also ..my son has a 50 gallon cichlid tank and a 40 gallon freshwater tank.

Outside is a 7500 gallon water feature which includes two ponds, one with 19 koi in it.

Yeah but the pleco's have to stay alive long enough to get big.
I got two yesterday. Each about 2 inches in length. If they make it through the week they should be fine. So far I can only find one though.
