I signed up with them after reading all the "Webair is amazing" messages.

I had to send 4-5 tickets to tech support because of IP problems, FTP badly configured in the first 48 hours.

I cancelled my account after the 5th ticket. I got a refund. So the 30 days satisfaction guarantee is valid.

I decided to stay with my current host. I'm paying more but I'm sure of it's reliability.

I've been burned so many times in the past with hosts like ProHosters and Cologroup. I don't have the patience anymore to deal with hosts being down and asking for support every fucking time it's down.

That is my story with Webair. If everyone is happy with them then it must be good. I was just not lucky.

Until that little incident last week end, my server has been running for over 250 + days with no downtime at webair.

I've been very satisfied with the quality of service they have given me.

well i don't see many posts about webair as i did with like whoa. maybe it was just that like whoa was so much bigger? i wouldn't know.

shit happens. the like whoa stuff was on and off for almost a year before shit finally hit the fan. there was plenty of warnings just before they went poof.

but having ongoing problems does raise some eyebrows. once may happen to anyone, but more than once and there better be some good answers with solutions that work.

What is wrong with your box?
MY first guess is you cant connect and that is a Global Crossing issue or a level 3 issue this is not just webair this is all hosts who use GBLX or Level3.

thats the only complaint I have, sometimes it takes them a while to fix things... if you leave things alone and dont want to make changes, everything is reliable and runs great. change something, and look out, you could be down for a while.

every few weeks it runs out of connections and locks up.

it does have an exotic configuration, with lots of scripts, mySQL connections sometime to webair are bad, so pages intermittantly don't load, etc. i've actually been reducing load on it, with no success in making it run better.

when it runs it runs great sometimes for a few week, and then it locks up and needs to be rebooted.

but it should not do this, it's dual processor, 4gb RAM, on very fast connection. my other stuff at webair runs great. so the box might be a lemon. drives me fuckin' nuts---especially when guys say they'll take a look at it, i've got 3 support requests in right now, that have been marked urgent, it's a holiday weekend, and the box failed again today (this shit always happens at 3 am or on a holiday)

so i sleep with a pager. but it is a drag because i have paysites on it.

The only downtime i've had with webair since i've been with them was the power outtage recently.

Sorry to hear the trouble with webair. They appeared to be top notch, but as any other hosting company, they run into troubles from time to time. Even NatNet had a ~6h downtime a few days ago... and everyone praises them as being the shit.

<shameless plug>My servers at Jupiter have run fantastically for over a year now</shameless plug>

It's all good, no need to panic.

I can assure you all that we are as solid as ever both technically and financially. We are completely done with the power upgrade issue that we had on Monday as well. It's true we are growing rapidly, but we are expanding accordingly to facilitate. Thus, the power upgrade on Monday =). We did all we could to avoid any downtime during that upgrade, but we simply could not put human life at risk, and chose to shut down power to the building for the 2am maintenance window, rather than have the electricians work on a 'hot' panel. Additionally, we are in the process of expanding our NYC datacenter to accommodate our growth, this should be complete in a week or two. The issue we had on Monday was in our Brooklyn facility. This is the reason some of you posted that you were up throughout and some of you were down. If we were in a position whereas the issues were bigger than I just explained, I think you all know me to be honest enough to tell you so. I would never let this company leave you in a bad position. Again, we are 100% stable right now and will continue to offer the services and support that you have all come to know us by. Thanks to all of you for your patience and understanding this week. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences we have caused you during the upgrade & assure you everything is back to normal now.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you

They are a SpamHaus. They ignore all Spam complaints. They have been home to Jon Atherton and the Super Zonda spammer. I can't comment on their technical expertise, but they appear light in the ethics department. They will host the worst spammers and scumbags as long as the price is right.

been with webair for almost 5 years , and wouldnt change host even if someone promised me the same plan for a quarter of the price.
their techs are top notch, always ready, i hardly experience downtime , didn't even notice a problem with the latest upgrade.

on the spam soide , i did once send emails to an opt in list i had and immediately recieved a closing warning after a fucker complaned , so all you haters/ jealous people out there stop spreading shit unless you have solid evidence

cheers

I am closing this thread, although Webair doesn't deserve respect around here, based upon his bitching about GFY elsewhere. I guess he doesn't know the rule regarding haters.
