Feeling The Blues

So what does everyone do when you start getting that burned out feeling? I mean we all do this stuff day in and day out.. sometimes it feels like this biz controls your life to much. You cut down or even stop socializing with people not in the biz, you ignore your old friends and family... What is a good "Pic Me Up"

lightning..
you need to go invest in a nice glass 1 or 2 foot bong. Then find out who in your town has the best chronic and grab a 1/4 oz. Next time you get this feeling, stuff the Brand new clean glass bowl with a fresh crystally green skunky nugget of the super chronic and roast that fucker! finish off the bowl and order a pizza and go to the television.

this is the ONLY way out.

Lightning, I know what you mean. And when you finally do hang out with your old friends, it feels awkward and you start thinking about the $ you could be making instead of hanging out with them.

I have no real advice to give for this situation.

Here's some things you could do:
You could earn enough $$ to retire early. But if you do that you'll miss the biz.
You could log on to counter strike and blow some people away! That's fun, but only a quick fix.
You can take a vacation for a few weeks.
Or you could just listen to Fucker, but he's from Berkeley...

WEll, seeing as how I don'tr spend enough time working my own sites, all i can say is the time i put into my sites, directly reflect the money i make, and i wish i could crack down, and get into my sites more... If you are serious about making the money, there is no advice to give, but if you think it can all run smoothly without you, then by all means, go out, and get a life.. dude there is nothing finer then having a passion... Mine is Climbing and hiking... come summer, you guys are never going to see me here..

Lightning, here are a few things I do sometimes for a good pick me up:
1) Take a nice hot bath (ladies are always welcome)

2) Take a nice walk (good for exercise & for fresh air)

3) Go to the local newstand & check out what's new at the magazine & comic rack

4) Go to the local junk shop & browse around (never know when I might find a good sale)

5) Hit garage sales on a Friday afternoon &/or Saturday morning (once again looking for a good deal)

6) Watch a movie or tv show with the family (Battlefield Earth was a so-so movie & we were a little disappointed in The Pretender movies)

7) Role-play Storms & Shadows with some friends (S&S is my own creation)

8) Take a road trip & visit my favorite stores (Hastings & comic book shop)

I think the natural solution is St. Johns Wart.

The herbal anti-depressant.
I usually take 3 tablets, and I giggle my mofo ass off. Seems to make everyone laugh at me too

I know the stuff can make you impotent, but sure beats capping myself in the head because of strong depression.

Hey Lots of great advice being given. I was originally just inquirering how the rest of you deal with the blues. I didnt mean to imply that I was going through them right now. Actually I'm feeling pretty damm good now, the new year is here and Lightning Free is doing very well (New projects opening this week), my personnal galleries are rockin, and my wife still cant count and tells me iam 12 inches, (she either has a bad habit of multiplying by 2 or shes blind as a bat) But I'll take the compliment.
And Fucker, I took your advice, But now I have this habit of just staring at the puter,(doing nothing) and eating everything in sight... ahhahahahhaha
Lensman actually your right, this was my first show, and Amy and I had 1 hell of a great time. I count the days till the next one, these thoughts are good and keep me going

When stressed out to the point of utter insanity I like to buy large numbers of gerbils and fling them at people on the sidewalk from a moving car.

Actually, what I do in the Summer is take the bike for a cruise through the country for an hour or two. In the Winter, well, I think about all the fun I'll have come Summer if I make enough money to do stuff.

Optimism, my friends. Optimism. Without it I'd be a Dead Frogg instead of Blakk Frogg.

Eating everything in sight works, too. But only until there's nothing left in sight.

i take... a day off *GASP*

yes, a full day off - i kick it with friends, jam on the bass, then go to a club and pit to some heavy music till the clubs all close.

the next day, my creativity is flowing again.

I stopped getting the blues when I became a full-time pornographer.

I have a 25th/50th aniverssary Les Paul Custom myself. I run it thur a set of amps, Peavy 4-10 Duce, a Peavy Classic 2-12 and a Ampeg B 4V bass head, it's a good setup. It's the only way I have found to get the Blues sound I looking for. Yes, I play the Blue.

Yeah you are right warphead

It has been a frustrating week for me, tring to get things working smoothly, while my old host has been serving up webpages like a flickering light bulb

I tried to tell myself that

and I am pretty lucky to have such a diversified portfolio that dealing with these speedbumps should present no problem, but it still really really pisses me off

Now if I can only coax the network solutions service agreement form along.... I'd be real happy, but shit the email server they are using seems to be slow like molasses

last time I changed stuff, the form did not process the second submission, so I am trying to do one at a time, and keep my fingers crossed

oh well february will really rock, once all this stuff is changed over:P

Lightning - Doing this type of job has got to be one of the most interesting jobs out there. But I know what you mean by burning out. I feel that way everytime my stats don't show what I think it whould. (I mean, face it, we live and die by our stats right? Well, at least I do. ) I burn out ALL the time in my other job. I'm on call so my schedule sucks all the time. Sometimes I have to work two shifts at one time. It's a bitch and a half.

So what do I do?

I go to the local sporting goods store, buy myself 200 rounds of ammo, go to the local gun range and I blast my H&K, Browning, Beretta and my 'burn out' away. I usually think about my younger bro who's a cop and how he's got such a shitty job for what he makes a year. (42 grand is chicken feed.) And it doesn't help any that he's a rookie and gets to work in a gang infested area. I also think about my parents who will soon be unable to work (due to age) and how I (being the first born son) will be able to help/support them. I then think about my good buddy who's gf is a lyin' cheating whore and how his life is all fuckt up because he can't get his head out of his ass (whipt mother fucker). I then think about my gf who after all these years is still with me even though I haven't asked to marry her. Or even though I would rather concentrate on slingin' porn than progressing towards my medical career, she still supports me with whatever I do.

I then go home and spend the next hour cleaning them. I forget about EVERYTHING else goin on in my life when I clean my guns. I clean them thoroughly and repeatedly making sure they look brand new again. And when I'm done, I'm ready to tackle my life again.

Yes it's the post Vegas let down, but there is always the show in June to look forward to. For me the highlight of the show was meeting a shaking hands with Lensman(I think he tried to tickle my palm with his pinky finger}but aside from that he was a perfect gentleman. He did fix me up with a couple of ladies from the L.A. area, for that I am eternally grateful..... Now I am reduced to slapping my nuts from one pocket to another...

Stangster, I can relate to the gun shooting, I used to have a colt ar-15 but when we had our kids My wife and I decided that we didnt ever want to be one of those accident statistics and we got rid of all my guns.

Solo, I thought I felt something tickling my palm also when I met Lensman, now you confirmed it...hahahhah
Actually to be honest Lensman, Tanker and the rest of that motely crew, were just about the best, decent down to earth people I had the pleasure of meeting. Well I guess it's time to start dreaming about the next show, and meeting more of you all. This time lets pre plan a Gofuckyourself gang party, with all the AP affiliates, and Lightning Free Webmasters..etc... We will all plan one hell of a party First class all the way, then charge it all to Lensmans suite

A walk on the beach, rent a movie, light a fire, crack a bottle of vino, and maybe even wind up the evening with doing the horizontal mombo wit Da Woman usually fixes me right up....take at least 1 FULL day off a week....I try to take 1 1/2 off on the average...sometimes 2 if I need the extra juice....taking care of the head helps take care of the pocketbook

The Jimmy, your on the right track for sure. Sometimes I think we all think this biz has to be a 24/7 Job. I'm guilty of this also. Especially some people who do these reviews for tgp's gee they do all this work for just a few hits from tgp traffic... There always so worried about the next set of reviews, day after day... man they seem to forget about enjoying life... The internet wont go anyware, take a little break and enjoy your friends and family.. "It's All Good"

Totally!

I worked 16-20 hour days for my 1st year in this biz (when I went full time)

Madness, total madness....thankfully the woman and a few good acquintences got through to me on the "take care of your head" routine....

and yes, the work will always be there....if you feel you aren't getting enough done...then resort to a list that you can check off, so you don't have to worry about cluttering your head with those details

The important ones will get checked off...the rest can be reevaluated...as long as shit is getting done and you're going in the right direction....it's all goooodddd

anyways, I'm way past my timelimit for fuck-off, great board, it's been fun...but time to go get a "little" work done now...since tommorow is an ALL DAY off day

ciao

When feeling the blues and a little burnt from doing this all day, I will go someplace nice and dark like to a movie. If that doesn't do it, it's off to a blues bar. If that fails, I go looking for a partner for me and the girlfriend to share.
