Your Digital Cameras & Editing Program

About a year ago I packed up the old Ricoh 35mm and went to an Olympus 340 Digital to get my feet wet. Nice little camera even though it is pretty much fully automatic. As long as there is a lot of light, or the flash is used the quaility is great.
640 x 480 @ 60kb
1280 x 960 @ 200kb
1280 x 960 @ 400kb
Seriously thinking about an Olympus E-10 SLR, and wondering if anyone out there currently has one of these cameras. Not really concerned with taking monster 4 megapixel portraits, but wondering just how friendly the camera is for shooting under different lighting conditions, and for shutter time trying to take pictures of fast moving objects. I have not found a single store in my city that has one in stock, though they will bring one in if ordered.

Currently use Micrografx Picture Publisher 8 for editing, I can not bring myself to spending the $$$ on the Adobe software.

I don't have what you're looking for, but this is what I use

- Olympus 3000 Zoom digital camera (3.3 megapixel)
- Adobe Photoshop

It's high quality, but when set at 640x480 the image looks like shit. Have a nice day!

I use a Kodak DC240 for taking pictures. If the lighting is good, the camera will give you the clearest image I have seen in a long time. (email me, if you want an example). As for editing, I stick to Paint Shop Pro. It's cheap, and it works ok.

I love my Sony Mavica MVC-FD73. I'm going to upgrade to a CD-1000 eventually.

We use a Power shot A50
works really well. I still like shooting film though and scanning.... it just creates the best quality.

ohhhhh the mavica cd1000 looks pretty kewl, read a bunch of stuff about it a couple months ago. I have not seen anyone else follow the mini CD idea yet.

Some of these new SLR digital cameras give me a real woody.

looked at an Olympus c3030 3.34 megapixel too, and a neat sony with a huge Carl Ziess lens on it, no fuckin viewfinder though, those little screens kinda suck in the daylight.

the olympus e-10 slr is rated the best semi-professional camera currently available on the market, that's what i'm getting. It's got a lot of great features... but if you're willing to shell out a few more bucks, you can get better camera's... around $4-5k. for $1660, the olympus e-10 slr is a great buy!!!

let us know what you decided to go with!

$1600+ for an E10?? Where are you shopping? That camera was announced back in Aug of 2000.

You can get the E10 for less than a $1000.

A Nikon D100 6MP SLR costs less than $1600.

I know the E10 produces great images, but why spend that much money for a fixed lense camera. At least get a true SLR where you can change lenses in the future.

Canon is going to release it's low cost digital slr pretty soon, the EOS-300D 6mp, for about $900.
