I'm lucky, I can say. I haven't experience anything that really hurt me, physically. Just some small bruises, cuts, and the like. No serious stuff.

I shattered a wrist somersaulting over the roof of a car and landing with all my weight on it. I tried to eat a steering wheel and broke several of my teeth when I drove a Mini into an Armco barrier at around 100mph. Both extremely painful accidents, but neither comes close to the pain of angina.

I don't know how many of you ever get really bad cramp in your calf muscles? Angina is similar, but worse and it affects your chest, so it's also scary because you wonder if an episode is coming ahead of a heart attack. A nickname for angina is "the paralyzing disease", and it's very apt because if you so much as lift a finger, the pain intensifies further. Sometimes it only lasts maybe 5 minutes. Other times for hours. You feel like you have been beaten up for anything up to 12 hours afterwards.

Nitro-glycerine pills and spray work miracles, although you get a thumping headache from using them and if the attacks are too frequent, you just have to sit them out.

Please, I would need to be SEDATED if I had to hear your chauvinistic yapping all day about how men are supposed to fuck around because it's in their nature and how women can't and all that other nonsense.

Your dick is too big my ass. I'm surprised that thing hasn't fallen off yet by the way that you're whoring around....

My right knee dislocating for the first time hurt really badly. It felt like my leg was on fire. Oddly enough, when the left popped out, it seemed like no big deal.

And oh. The flu. God. I am so sick of people with a bad headcold whining about how they have the flu. When you get the real flu, goddamn, that shit fucks you up.

Breaking my jaw when i came off my bike was also another painful experience.

Okay, OW. That brings back lovely memories of one day when I was making Thai food, slicing Thai peppers (without gloves) and, without thinking, rubbed my eyes. (I wear soft contacts.)

I thought I was going to have to gouge my eyes out with a spork (sorry for the visual) and was pretty sure I'd ruined the lenses. Ended up soaking them in milk, followed by an enzyme treatment, two days in a row, and all was well. (Just a little Heloisian Hint, should anyone be as stupid as I was.)

WORST pain ever was probably the time I broke my foot, because that's the only pain I ever thought I was going to pass out from. But it happened after work at a restaurant, and my friends carried me back inside and got me very drunk very quickly, so I don't really remember the pain...good times...

kelly 05-25-2004 03:17 AM

I've got a few bones that I broke that never properly healed which give long dull aches for days on end but childbirth and the stitches afterwards were awful, could barely walk for 3 weeks - never again :(

Thank God, I'm not accident-prone...

Sarah_Jayne 05-25-2004 03:38 AM

few come to mind:

- Having a near burst appendix was NOT fun.

- When I was about 11 I had a bee sting on my foot. I was (and am) allergic and a few days later it ballooned up to four times its size and I was throwing up. They took me to the Emergency room and in order to treat it (ie cut it open and drain a ton of puss) they had to give me a shot in the sole of my foot. I can't even explain how badly that hurt. It actually traumatised me to the point where I will freak out if a bee is anywhere near me.

When i was 16 i sliced part of my finger off on a deli slicer

At the hospital,,,then had to give me a shot directly into the bone to get it to stop bleeding.

Then I had a car accident and shattered my pelvis in 8 areas,,,spent 3 weeks in the hospital.

Nah, I grew up in a really rough neighbourhood and moved and was going to a school full of spoiled rich kids. More like culture shock.
I was used to fighting and defending myself everyday and then went to a school full of guys who were pussies.

Hank_Heartland 05-25-2004 04:49 AM

Let's see,

1) Stuck a knife through my foot through the bone when I was about 7yrs old playing a game sticking the knife in the ground next to it...it was a bitch going to the doctor to get that fucker out.

2) Tore all the ligaments in my left ankle playing college football...had surgery and was in a cast for many months.

3) Fell on the ice about 10 yrs ago and cracked 2 ribs on my right side...felt like I was going to die everytime I coughed for over two weeks:(

Nothing for awhile though:Graucho

Peaches 05-25-2004 06:18 AM

I had a c-section after the right side of my epidural wore off, so there was zero anesthesia on the right side. OUCH! :(

slackologist 05-25-2004 06:31 AM

hit by truck, 6inch skull fracture -- age 8.

completley snapped bones in hand & dr pushing bones back into alignment before applying the cast and the several hours in total pre morphine.

badmrfrosty 05-25-2004 06:37 AM

Mine was a bone marrow extraction to test for lukemia

they take a 24" needle and ram it into your back right above your asscrack, and dig around, then they suck out bone marrow. They cant really numb you, and i was awake.

but #2 would be when i had my entropian lift done on my eyelids, you have to be awake for that too because your eyes have to stay open so all i feel is heat and pain..

because he was cauterizing the bleeders.

it was great.

scoreman 05-25-2004 06:41 AM

chest surgery...the equivalent of what you see on ER when they really open em up.

I was in ICU for 5 days after and in the hospital 13 days total.

The first 2 days after were about as bad as it can get. 90 min morphine push couldnt come fast enough.

PBucksLauren 05-25-2004 07:31 AM

The pain when I got curb smiled!

SlickCash Sarah 05-25-2004 07:34 AM

When I was in highschool I used to teach small kids how to ice skate, and I was holding one kids hand and he wiped out and brought me down with him. His skake sliced the top of my eye, right below my eye brow and when I went to the hospital, they had to stich it up without any freezing because it was too close to my eyeball. That hurt like a bitch!

LauraLee 05-25-2004 07:38 AM

For sure the car accidents i have been in, and the ensuing injuries.
However, by far the worst was breaking my hip in 3 places while dislocating it. The icing on the cake was the massive laceration all the way up my right shin bone and the deep cut to the bone on my left knee that came along with it.
Didn't walk for over a year. Wheelchairs and crutches were my best friends.
Although the physical pain of the entire situation sucked, what was worse was losing my athletic scholarships.

Milena Dickman 05-25-2004 08:40 AM

Injuring my knee being run over a car. The accident wasn't the most painfull... the pain was during the days before and after the surgery to fix my knee.

I'm ok now :thumbsup

m00d 05-25-2004 08:41 AM

bladder infection and ear infection

ouch

mindoza 05-25-2004 08:44 AM

I ruptured my large intestine...was in hospital for 10 days with a morphine drip..then went back in and they removed 3/4 of intestine and after surgery my blood pressure dropped so low they could not give me pain medicine...I would actually hyperventilate and passout from the pain. I laid crying for 26 hrs.

Throat surgery. Removing my tonsils and also slicing/reshaping the bit of skin in front of my throat. Didn't feel a thing while I was in hospital, I even went home a day earlier, but then it hit. The pain was unbelievable, like someone was still poking a knife against an open wound. Swallowing liquid was difficult; swallowing food was impossible. The pain killers only worked for about 4 hours but I could only have them every 6. By the time I could have another one I was in extreme pain again, so swallowing a tablet was excruciatingly painful.

Apart from the night in hospital I didn't eat any solids for about 10 days after my op. I lost a lot of weight.
