Don't listen to people. I'm slowly learning.

I've been listening to people a little too much recently.

People asked for less distributed, so we created a "Semi Exclusive" section. Sale sucked, guess no one wanted to pay the extra few dollars.

People asked for emails without the pictures, so we sent out one with just a web address, resulting in few visits via the link.

People asked to not have to register to look at content. So we took off the password restriction. No increase in sales and a big drop in registrations, which results in less emails gathered.

This we do not mind, becasue with all the new traffic we are getting we are putting up banners of our top clients to sned them some surfers and webmasters.

So the lesson is go with what you think works, not what is "advised"

But sometimes it's good to atleast listen to advice.

My father used to get pissed when I'd ask for advice and say.."It doesn't matter what I say you're going to do what you want to anyway."

After many years of training him with this line..."yes because in the end it effects my life the most," he's finally understanding that while I may take his advice into consideration I will surely choose to do what I think is best in the end...and sometimes it's right and sometimes it's wrong .

Yes good to listen but you have to remember a lot of the advice coming from here is BS.

No I spent a lot of time asking on more boards than here and asking clients.

Sales on www.paulmarkham.com are no longer rising, just holding steady. Sales on www.bargainbasementcontent.com are rising.

Seems all people want today is cheap, if it's good or under distributed then that's a bonus. But in no way required.

Wrong. The lesson you should have learned is to not listen the fucking idiots that post here. Serious customers do not mind registering....Serious customers have broadband and do not mind the load times for images in the emails.......Serious customers will buy bulk non-exclusive and exclusive content........

I may not know a lot of things about this industry but I think I have a clue or two about how to market things.

IMO that is not true. Ive spent 3-4k on content at a time. ive never registered once. i'll register if i know its quality, but other than that. they would have to show some damn good samples to get me to register to purchase shit

Well, I for one am really glad that you offer such inexpensive content on your Bargain Basement site... recently when I was ill I decided to add outside content to my site (which was previously only content I shot myself, exclusively for my own site) and without a source like yours (and a few others that had similar sale sections) I wouldn't have been able to pull it off (amazingly enough, when I'm too ill to work my budget goes down, hehehe). I was really happy with the content I purchased, and it didn't really matter to me whether or not it was highly distributed... it gave my members something new (to them) to view at a time when I couldn't have afforded much else.

It may not be your preferred outlet for your content, but keep in mind that deals like that can be really important to people with very low budgets (even if the low budget is temporary) and it made a big difference to me that that content was available.

Glad our stuff works for you.

I have no problem where the sales come from, so long as they come.

Which they do, it's just the constant "We want this" we hear and they buy something else that bugged me.

I think a professional running a paysite would need to register on our site to see more of what we have. I'm not exactly a newbie at porn.

The thing is we opened the doors so people could see what we have and no increase in sales, no sales from people who had just registered and registrations are DOWN.

We earn money from sending out our Newsletters, things a lot of little guys complain about and call Spam. The email list is money to us and would never be sold or abused.

What would make your post really hit home is you having a signature promoting your cash program. Then we would know you are a serious paysite player.

When you spent 3-4K on content was it top end for the front of a paysite, quality to drive traffic as a webmaster (dobtful if a webmaster would buy that much in one hit) or just bought on price?

Could put up banners of our top clients, Let the surfer and webmaster see where the content is going.
