He would have leveled Afghanistan just like Bush did and maybe just maybe he wouldn't have gotten so distracted by Iraq as to not have caught Bin Laden and the other 18 of the 22 most wanted terrorists list. If Al Gore were president 9/11 would have never happened. The clinton/gore white house wouldn't have ignored increased threat levels as it was PROVED the bush white house did all throughout the summer and fall of 2001. The 9/11 Commission put to rest any question as to how the Clinton WH handled terrorism and how the Bush WH handled it. How dare you question what a Democrat would do..doing anything would have made them better than Bush WH..who did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

There is no way anyone was going to prevent anything from happening. If someone is so dead set on killing you they will do it, somehow, someway.

Everyone is so up in arms about why it happened and how come it wasn't prevented to worry about how to get this to some to some sort of end.

People are now saying the video was just a perfect timing ploy for Bush and that the abuse photos were staged to get him out. I think it's all BS. Some poor guy is dead because of, what Limbaugh reportedly said, some soldiers blowing off steam.

This whole situation is fucked up and a changing of the guards here in the US will not make anything better. The beheading may have been a retaliation for the abuse but how do you explain the initial bombings and all of the people detained and killed already by the oppsing forces? What about the threats of setting the Japanese people on fire if Japan didn't pull out? Spain pussed out and left so it must be working with someone.

We didn't necessarily give them an excuse to start killing us, we just moved the victims closer to the slaugherhouse.

And as Clinton proved it is bad to pull out too soon, it will get you into lots of trouble ;)

Going after the terrorists was a good idea. Moving it in to Iraq because Sadam gave support to them was a good idea. Saying it was because we knew he had WMD would have been a good idea had the intellegence been correct. Taking out Sadam was a good idea but only because of what he did to his own people. Trying to help the Iraqi people have a place they can live in without fear is a good idea.

The idiots (way too nice of a term) in the pictures in the US prison will be punished but probably not to the extent the world would like to see.

This is what I think Kerry should pledge to do in the campaign.

First off, there is no incentive for the U.N. or any of the European powers to get involved? Why? Because the United States already has 130,000 troops there and have made the commitment from Bush that we're staying regardless!

So Kerry should pledge to bring ALL the troops home within 6-9 months on his inaguaration as President.

Then, the U.N. will be much more inclined to do something. Why?
For starters, the French, Germans, and ESPECIALLY the Russians are going to be very uncomfortable. Russian is already having problems with Moslem extremists (Chechnya), France has the largest Moslem population in Europe, and geographically, all of Europe is much closer to Iraq than the U.S.

As it is now, they're thinking: "Good, let the crazy Americans stay there and do the job and get killed!" But if the US suddenly pulls its troops out, ALL of the surrounding countries, INCLUDING Israel will NOT be happy (Despite what they may say officially).

And for that matter, if Israel then wants to come in and clean out Iraq..I could care less!

Hopefully the series will come out in a boxed set someday. As far as I know you can only get a few episodes now and my VHS versions are just about worn out.

Why do some people have this perfect fairytale idea that if somehow the U.N. were to take over Iraq's security all would be well??
