Well, I guess you're right. I just read through this entire thread & you never did say it. I guess I assumed your pro Iraqii prisoner views to be Anti-American ones. I'm sick of people bashing shit they know nothing about and am passionate about defending American troops - regardless of how fucked up it looks.

But I have every right AND the balls to post on this subject because I did server during Desert Shield / Desert Storm and I have seen what was done to our service people over there and what these people are capable of. I'm 37, not 21, and have lived here / abroad / and afloat. So I guess we both have assumptions that were proven wrong.

I don't doubt you met many fine Muslims and were fortunate enough to meet them during oportune times. Not when they were trying to kill you or your friends. For this you can speak kindly of them.

Had you had friends killed there and boatloads upon boatloads of suicidal martyr wanna-bees trying to blow up your ship your views would be different.

After having read the various threads on this matter I have learned this.

1) Regardless of how morally intelligent and rationally sound you are in your arguments, points and opinions. These cheeseburger eating assholes will find every single excuse under the sun to justify their hatred and pathetic belief in the righteousness of what is happening in Iraq.

2) Although there are some decent American citizens. George Bush is representive of the mind, will and beliefs of the majority of the American people. (Putting the blame on him is far too easy and as since the USA is supposed to be the greatest democracy on earth, there are checks and balences to remove an idiot from power. If the majority wanted him removed from office he would be.)

3) The citizens of the rest of the world are wakeing up to what I learned when I lived in the Washington State. America is a nation built on hate and ignorance. And as such at its core is savagery. It is truely an evil country.

4) We are witnessing the beginning of the fall of the United States. Perhaps the current politicians in the various nations will not take an immeadiate stand against the USA. But all future political dealings will be viewed by everyone with suspicion and mis-trust. Alies will be reluctant to believe and side with the USA and international businessmen will seek others to deal with.

5) The terrorists have already won. They no longer need to take hostile and horrific action against the USA. They just need to feed into its hatred and it will collapse on its own.

6) In the end it is America that now strikes terror into the hearts of the world.

There is an old curse that says, "May you live in interesting times." To this extent we are all damned. I am just a simple person and have resolved myself to not pray for peace but for a future.

All the knowledge I have of Nazi Germany was taught to me by teachers that didn't even know the true origin or meaning of the swastika so I'm not even going to say I know what really happened there.

I have not served with nor have I ever come across any nazi soldiers, so I can not tell you what the differences are, or who is / was better than who, but in common, they obeyed orders, which is what a "soldier" should do, regardless of MOS, personal feelings or morals.

Does this looked fucked up and wrong? On the surface, of course it does. However, no one will probably ever know what exactly was going on when these stupid pics were taken - I'm guessing it was all during interrogations, but speculation either way is just that... speculation. The media has done a great job making this a bigger mess than it already was.

As you well know war is hell and bad things happen. Always have, always will. To think everyone, or anyone for that matter, will always comply with the rules of The Geneva Convention is just asking for disappointment. Personal feelings WILL come into play and people will not always act sanely in insane environments. Justification? No. Just reality.

Anyhow, to somehow think that things will eventually be solved with a chess game over coffee and tea is just hopeless wishful thinking. War is bad. People are going to die, people are going to be mistreated and people everywhere are going to object. Those are certainties.

Just a general side note:
There sure are a lot of "peace loving" people here that like starting confrontations.

I'm livid. This is being done on our money and country's integrity and the people in command at the DoD are responsible for this bullshit and need to be replaced and fast. Not just passing it off on some privates and non-officers.

The worst part the Senate and Congress are saying bring it all out so everyone can see the whole extent of this. It'll probably get leaked out anyway. Sen. John Warner said they're getting all the files tomorrow.

After hearing so much new information I decided to do a little more research on this whole subject. This IS more fucked up than I thought.

No specialists there. Those that were there had 10 days of training. 2 of which were spent teaching them how to cover their own asses...

Funny you should mention it, actually canadian soldiers are alot better trained than US soldiers... The US government even hires alot of military personel from Canada to train their special ops units.

If the majority wanted him removed from office he would be.) 3) The citizens of the rest of the world are wakeing up to what I learned when I lived in the Washington State. America is a nation built on hate and ignorance. And as such at its core is savagery. It is truely an evil country. 4) We are witnessing the beginning of the fall of the United States. Perhaps the current politicians in the various nations will not take an immeadiate stand against the USA. But all future political dealings will be viewed by everyone with suspicion and mis-trust. Alies will be reluctant to believe and side with the USA and international businessmen will seek others to deal with. 5) The terrorists have already won. They no longer need to take hostile and horrific action against the USA. They just need to feed into its hatred and it will collapse on its own. 6) In the end it is America that now strikes terror into the hearts of the world. Rather than just spew out "we rule" "you suck" comments, I urge anyone interested, regardless of what stance you currently have, to read the entire Taguba report. This was labled "secret", but Yahoo has a link to it, which is fucked up in itself, so I'm assuming it has since been declassified, but anyway... one little excerpt: (U) The 800th MP (I/R) units did not receive Internment/Resettlement (I/R) and corrections specific training during their mobilization period. Corrections training is only on the METL of two MP (I/R) Confinement Battalions throughout the Army, one currently serving in Afghanistan, and elements of the other are at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. MP units supporting JTF-GTMO received ten days of training in detention facility operations, to include two days of unarmed self-defense, training in interpersonal communication skills, forced cell moves, and correctional officer safety. (ANNEX 19) No specialists there. Those that were there had 10 days of training. 2 of which were spent teaching them how to cover their own asses... I believe the french fry guy at McDonalds gets more OJT. A push button officer and 2 civilians seem to be at the crest of it all. Grand. I still support our "troops", but god damn, what the hell happened to the "leadership"? __________________
