Can i charge back a hotel bill if they use false advertising on me?

i booked a hotel for the weekend, it's be about $1400 for 2 nights, anyway when i booked it i asked THREE times if they had high speed int he rooms, they said yes.

I verified a few days before - and asked again - YES, not dial up - they have high speed acess.

Ok, i book in, they confor when booking the room and getting my credit card, that YES, they have HIGH SPEED acess in the room, not dial up. ok, so i go out drinking, come back at midnight, and look for the high speed acess. it's not there. I call the desk, they come up to the room and look, yep, no high speed acess. so their soluition was telling me i could use the business center. There are 5 kids in there up late , i cannot work on porn in there. they can't give me another room cept for a tiny one and they won't let me USE it, i have to exchange rooms and i have a huge awesome room and the high speed rooms are normal small rooms with nothing much more than a bed.

so i drive 1 1/2 hours home to do my update today, and will drive back in a few hours. but my question is - being LIED to like that on the one thing that matters to me in a hotel - do i have a legal ability to charge back my hotel bill? I'm feeling like this is complete fraud.

i had that same problem in san diego one time a couple years ago. i bounced around to three different hotels before finding one that really had high speed internet. i threatened the other hotels about charging back, giving them my reason, and was promptly refunded as well as given a free taxi ride to the hotel that i was finally staying at.

Ish, sucks that you got lied to...I don't think you can charge it back since you did use the place - just didn't get 100% of what you expected. If anything, you should be able to get the bill lowed/cut in half...just talk to the right person, not to the peons at the desk.

I stayed in the Gaylord Opryland a few days ago, $250 a night, I confirmed over the phone that they had high speed internet access in the rooms. Turns out that they have a deal with netzero for their bullshit "high speed" dial up
I raised hell but to no avail.
When I got back, I called AMEX and explained the situation, they called for me and got 50% of the charge reversed...

Did you book it on the net? I am finding soooo many hotel websites to be deceptive.

A couple weeks back I jetted to Kelowna to see Bowie and supposedly booked this:

http://www.grandokanagan.com/accommo...niorsuite.html

Which is in supposedly the best hotel in Kelowna. The room was a tiny shithole close to a giant fan and the high speed access they had was an expensive optional wireless service.

And to top it off it seemed we were turned away from the restaurant there because my date and I were a mixed couple. Kelowna is some sort of Aryan nations boot camp and there were so many white people there it made me nervous and I'm white.

Anyways I am not booking again until I know someone who can vouch for a place.

Yup, what Juicy says, all except for the part about telling them you know Juicy. Seriously, any decent hotel manager will hear you out and should at least comp one of the nights, or maybe even both for your inconvenience.

I would be pissed, but I would express my concerns to corporate or a manager before charging back.

i just got back from a vacation out of country..

i would have been happy with slow speed internet..

I had no connection what so ever...

I had to go to a business center that charged me 1.00 per minute.

And this wasnt some shitty hotel. It was one of the best resorts in the world and I was just internetless.

God you're a big fucking whining bitch.

Getting ripped off by other people is in your blood. That's your karma.

99% of your threads are about hotels, customs or some other situations where you're so fucking owned.

Stop fucking whining about everything.

1400$ for 2 nights? You're an idiot.

That still doesn't mean I can't give comments about his idiocy. He's a big boy, he can handle it. If not, he wouldn't post those "I got burned and I'm a big whiner" threads.

It's a simple matter of they had a verbal contract they broke it and if the manager gives you any problems with a full refund just do a chargeback. You are fully within your rights.

You could have always told them to fuck off and demand a refund as soon as you found out but instead you decided to still stay there. You should still pay something.

The 1.5 hour drive home + 1.5 hour drive back along with the inconvenience should be worth something if they decide they want your business again and at $700/night i suspect they would.

I did it with a $4000.00 cruise for the exact same reason. But make sure you put your complaint in writing. Then if you get no satisfaction within a specified period, say 10 days. Call your CC company and request a charge-back. At the least this is false advertising.

that's stupid if you couldnt work there you should have demanded a refund the first night and went somewhere with high speed net. instead you rubbed your meaty hands together with glee at the prospect of being able to RIP THE HOTEL OFF OFR YOUR ENTIRE 3DAY BILL. it's about like reserving a party of 80 to get a table for 2. you dont care about right and fairness. you don't care who you hurt. you have the same mentality as shoplifters.."it's a big company, they hahahahaha the theft off, it doesn't really count if i steal from a large corporation"
