FUCK PHOTOSHOP@@!! Why does it change colors when I "Save for web"??? HELP!!!
Sometimes I really hate this damn program!
I am doing a design that uses lots of blue colors. Well, when I try and save it for web, it changes the color dramatically! It's still blue, but a shitty blue. Not the blue I intended on having. Even when I do "Only web colors" someone help!!!!! |

Make sure you've got the colour mode set to RGB. I had a problem like that once, and that's what it was for me.

Save for Web's default removes color profiles from jpegs to make them smaller. And color profiles define how an image will look in different environments. What color profile is your Photoshop set to (edit>color settings)? I leave mine on Adobe 1998 for my print work but leave it on Monitor RGB for web work.

You should set the color profile assigned to your monitor first.. then launch photoshop and use one the presets or your fave calibrated color setup.
If you work for the web, you'd start to work in RGB and even better use the web safe palette or swatches from the very beginning. Same can happen when someone imposrt vector drawings, logos ertc. with CMYK presets, all colors are messed up. hth |

You can't go wrong using the web safe pallete.
Well... YOU could go wrong, but everyone else can't. And if you're saving as a GIF, the GIF format only supports 256 colors.

Well congratulations on being a "Natural". Very rare indeed ![]() Basically to put it bluntly ya goto understand the Hexadecimal color pallet's. Its really no biggie I bet whats bugging you that there is a color you want might be a totally slight shade different when you export it. In summary ya should choose your base colors off the web pallet to ensure you do not face a delema like your experiencing. PCs see's JPG's as an Algorythm and are nothing like gifs in Digital composition. Gif's are pixel by pixel markings with a color statement for each pixel. Thas one way to understand how to separate the two file types and why one filetype can carry a transperancy while JPG's can not Anyways if ya wanna get the web safe pallette take a look below here. ![]() Don't normally reach out to other designers but when I see talent I know it. Keep rolling dude ![]()

2nd, if you are saving as a jpeg 60 quality or better, you should not see any noticable color changes. i suggest you go back and check your settings. i am putting my money on EUE (end user error). 3rd, you shelled out $500 for photoshop, bite the bullet and spend another $50 on a goddamn book. |

![]() Yah, I taught myself everything I know about design... so I only learned what I thought I needed to know just to make pretty designs. I didn't learn much of the color settings, etc... I'm scrapping the other design I showed u earlier. Making another one now... looks much better ![]() |

Understanding the difference between Gif's and Jpegs in design is highly crucial or you end up with dead "Give aways" in the table formations when a gif is next to a JPG with cell's set to zero.
To give a pro look you will find yourself often deciding which images are destined to be gif's and JPEGs and in advanced designs it makes for a total flawless look when working transitions with back grounds.

You might want to try turning color management off (shift-ctrl-k or edit menu/colormanagement) or change it to web default.
Why 16bits per channel? 8bits is more than enough ![]() |

For everyone that still does not get it, and there seem to be a lot of people judging by this thread:
Photoshops "Save for Web" saves the img using the _WEB SAFE PALETTE_. That Pallet was never invented to produce low sized gif files, it was invented to have a standard color palette usable by all browsers that display images. The palette is 216 colors big, which leaves 40 colors or so for the app itself to use if it does not want to display ITSELF using web safe colors. This was done because when the Web was developed most people were not having GFX cards with more than 8bit colors causing hahahahahahas for example to switch its 256 color palette used when you switched between programs. So the web safe colors were invented to actually make sure the site and picture looks good on any browser that supports pictures. So obviously, when you save for web in photoshop, and have an image that is full of blue, it will have to dither the colors to match the few blue-tones the web safe palette offers. This is totally outdated, unless you want to support 8bit color users, you should not care about it.
