based purely on my experience with submitting Movie galleries to MGPs ... I think Dream Submitter is currently the best.

It is a little more difficult to get setup .. But don't get frustrated, they'll walk you through it. Build a custom database, tune it for your traffic constantly.

By fake TGP .. you mean you want to rotate around from a specific set of links.

I suggest you use Random galleries from text file.

Here is the specific link to the auto gallery SQL owners manual that deals with this.

You will use the Random files directive. See the example below. Put all the links you want to rotate on your tgp, in to a text file .. Complete with descriptions, thumbnails etc etc.

Micorsoft Access is a very powerful, and easily scaled Relational Database. There are hahahahahahas interfaces, and it understands a basic version of SQL used through out the web. It's a small-medium sized database application. Small companies would use this program to run small databases when a full fledged SQL server is not required.

The "Jet engine" of the database can be distributed such that a programmer can use Microsoft Access to develop a database, for use with an application they hahahahaha .. And it will work on your machine without you having Access at all.

It uses the internet for web verification only. ALl your databases and client run on your machine.

You may use it on ANY machine, but only one machine at a time. This means one license for Dream Submitter will work for your notebook AND desktop .. Whereas with other submitters you needed to have multiple licenses.

I'm not a very good source for this sort of information. I don't really keep on top of the newest technology.

However. I will say say buy intel. All the problems I've ever had with over heating and or fried processors has always been with AMD.

All the problems I've ever had with video cards has been with ATI. They're fast, but their drivers suck ass.

If this is going to be your work PC, take some basic precautions to be redundant. Hard drives are cheap now, and so are PCI raid cards. You can buy an Adaptec card, and two 200 gig drives for less than $500US. This will give you a mirror of your hard drive. VERY handy if you have a failure.

I can tell you what I use for my work machine:

2 X 2.8ghz Intel P4 2way Xeon processors
2 Gigs ram. Xeons need a specific type of RAM.
21" MultiSync FP2141 monitor
4 x 120gig Maxtor drives. 7200 RPM ATA133.
Adaptec ATA 1200 Raid controller
Drives configured as two seperate mirror sets. Giving me 120 gig system partition and a 120 gig data parition. Redudant
ATi Radeon9700 All in wonder. It sucks ass, but I like watching TV. SOmetimes it's good for games, mostly it crashes

How do you screen scrape? so you pull text off of 1 page and put it on to another?

I sometimes see tgps do this where they automatically get links off of other tgps and put the links on their own, but I dont know how to do it.

Most probably it's done with a spider script. It may be custom written, depending on which TGP. Recenly, I know for a fact, some MGP's have grown large in size based soley on such a spider script.

It is crawling through a specific list of sites and then following all the links on that site, and evaluating the content. Then building it's own database of links, and updating the page with these links. Personally, I think it's a little dirty. Especially when you're stealing descriptions that someone is taking the time to hahahahaha each day.

There is probably some pre packaged script like software available, but you'd probably want to do something like this through some custom programming.

I've always used people I know, or know through someone. I'm in Vancouver though with quite a few IT contacts, and may make this a lot easier for me.

If I needed to find someone, I'd do what I've done in the passed for other things:

Post on GFY. hahahahaha a brief description of what you need, and ask for bids. Ask for refferences from your winning bidder. If he can't show you any good work of his, or a client willing to speak on his behalf .. Move to the next bidder. Wash, rinse, repeat until you find someone you are satisfied with.

I've bought webdesign, content, and now custom content through just this process, from GFY.

if not, can you get MS Access to work with php? can you register an access database on a freebsd/apache box like you can on a win/iis server?

You need to drink the magical formula BEFORE you begin any type of time travel.

Mix together Equal parts of GHB and liquid LSD. In this mixture disolve 1oz pure THC crystals.

Use this mixture to make Tea with both mushrooms and Peyote caps.

Try to consume atleast 4-5 cups of this, atleast 2 hours prior to attempting to break the time barrier.

Negative. Microsoft Access is an MS application and relies heavily on the .net libraries and standard interfaces.

However, SQL is very simple. It's a very straight forward, basic language. You really don't need a fancy GUI.

http://www.webmonkey.com is a great resource site. Sit down with this site, a good attitude and a few spare hours and you can deffinetly master the basics of a MYSQL database.

It's been 3-4 years since I've kept up with hardware. I've found the mother of cases but that is all they sell there, cases. So I thought I build one.

I've always used Intel chips, have seen the same over heating problems with the AMD. I was going to put 2 Hard drives in it and mirror them. They sure are cheap now.

I don't remember what I paid for the first 10 MEG hard drive I got in an IBM but I remember thinking I never filled up the 5 MEG and didn't know what I'd do with all that space.

Anyway, I digress....

Thanks for the input, it's been a long time since I've been to Tom's Hardware site, it was always a good reference.

Also, If you're going to do any heavy video processing, load up on processor. That's why I have dual Xeons .. When I'm rending in Vegas Video, it pins them both.

No, anything over 2 gig is an over kill for my use as far as processor, and I thought 1 gig would do for memory.

I am going blind so I do want to get a good monitor, but I'm not sure I want a 21", I need to go look at a few. I used to always use Diamond video cards.

I thought I'd use 1 small drive for just the O/S, and put everything else on the other drive and mirror it on a twin drive.

Might aswell mirror your OS drive aswell.

The Raid card I use from Adaptec can handle 4 drives .. It has two seperate channels. It's worth less than $100 US for the card.

A mirrored drive hahahahahas at the same speed as as single drive, but it reads twice as fast
