I've always used Intel chips, have seen the same over heating problems with the AMD. I was going to put 2 Hard drives in it and mirror them. They sure are cheap now.
I don't remember what I paid for the first 10 MEG hard drive I got in an IBM but I remember thinking I never filled up the 5 MEG and didn't know what I'd do with all that space.

Also, If you're going to do any heavy video processing, load up on processor. That's why I have dual Xeons .. When I'm rending in Vegas Video, it pins them both.
