Dean, please read.

I think you should lighten up on going after a sponsor just because someone mails their program.

I think ever major sponsor allows legal mail traffic. The issue is that we don't know how the mail was collected. Now with Can-Spam, we can at least know if the mailing looks legit.

The only real way a sponsor knows if someone is spamming is by dealing with complaints. Christ, I even get complaints when I mail GFY webmasters, and that's DOUBLE OPT.

So give people a break, would you? And here's a nice link that works perfect for me

the double opt in lists i use to promote sites has a removal link.

Last time i checked you didn't have a removal link to all those adult beat emails.

you wouldn't get complaints if you had a removal but i doubt that will ever happen cause everyone one would get the hell of that bloody list

Bayes is also bundled into the new TheBat by ritlabs.net. It trains quickly and works like a charm.

Pretty good spam filter program for free unless you are bored and like reading spam.

We work in adult. Don't spam filters usually work off of a word list?

Use Netscape Mail's Junk Filter, I'm lucky if I get 10 spams a day (not counting mailings from sites I've legitimately opted into)

Lens, thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts.

Once again I should clarify that I wasn't "going after a sponsor just because someone emails their program". I was going after (if you want to call it that)...someone who has no regard for doing the right thing once spam has been reported. His website claims one thing - yet he doesn't not stand behind his word. If a man doesnt' have integrity..what does he have?

Now, I don't expect Dave to change the way he does business, but I do expect that when another member of the adult community files a complaint with them about one of their affiliates "blatantly spamming" - that it get's taken care of in a timely and professional manner. Asking someone to hand over all of your email addresses so that they may ask the spammer to remove the addresses from their database is not a proper response for this kind of complaint.

It occurs to me that since PlatinBucks probably spends a handful of cash with you each month...your probably in a sticky situation here. So, I am sensitive to your concerns and must agree that you have handled this matter in a way that pleases me and I'm sure pleases Dave. You didn't delete the posts that I made, but you did lock them and removed my sig. All in all - I see it as a good productive day.

I can only hope that next time Dave get's a complaint from someone in regards to a spamming affiliate, that he might consider doing things a little differently next time. Expecially if the one complaining is someone within the adult industry like myself.

Lastly, as explained in one of the "locked" threads....I have a spam filter in place that does a great job. But this particular spammer found a way to get around the filter. I have the program tweaked but as you know .... no program is perfect.

Thanks again for your post Lens - your the man
