130 SOLDIERS KILLED IN IRAQ - REPORTS

A Pentagon source has said up to 130 US troops have been killed in fierce fighting in Iraq.

The large scale battle, described as "intense", has taken place in the town of Ar Ramadi, 20 miles west of Fallujah.

Sky News' David Chater said: "None of this is official yet - none of it is confirmed."

But he added: "It sounds very much like this is being carried out by men who are militarily trained."

Chater described the attack as "highly sophisticated".

to put this in another perspective: as of last official count, there have been 624 US soldiers killed in Iraq since March, 2003. that averages out to 44.57 per month.

Iraq is our biz.

Saddam defaulted on over $100 Billion in loans from the US and its allies.

Iraq controls the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world. We're the largest buyer of oil.

Iraq is strategically located in the middle east, a region where Islamic extremists and terrorists operate out of. They have clearly stated their mission is to destroy Israel and harm the USA anyway they can. We have a right to defend ourselves anyway we can.

So we're not going anywhere. Deal with it and accept the fact the US is the only country capable of being the world's Police force.

The reality is there are profits to be had. War is big bucks. The US is being bled dry in many ways.

Fighting terror with terror IS similar to fighting fire with fire. ( it can work - BUT it's damn unreliable and depending on which way the wind blows you may end up in a very bad place )

I'd like to see something more being done peacefully ( strongly address some of the causes for the hate - eg; palestine? regardless of political fallout ) to stop the cycle of matyrdom that exists as i think that could complement if not replace current methods of waging a 'war on terror'.

True, there was never really any other way to handle this situation other then to go to war and take the consequences of that. I guess we could of gave the U.N another decade to try to get Hussein to comply. But who knows what Hussein would of done in the mean time. It wasn't like he just wanted to build a peaceful thriving nation. He was into defying the U.N and figuring ways to destroy Israel and the West. Also, what would of happened had any of his sons got power. I can't even imagine the loss of life if that would of happened.
