Of course Sadam was a dick. But the media in the US made Iraq out as a horrible country, where life was damn near unlivable. In fact, it was relativly similar to the lives we live. People worked, had cars, had weekends off to goto the mall and do everyday things with their families.

"acceptable" violence levels were finally achieved in Iraq - that is violence in crimes and such, which is unavoidable. Now that all this shit has started, there's shootings, looting, bombings... Seems like the liberation of Iraq did nothing more than turn Iraq back about 10 years.
