if ..umm.. a friend threatened to shoot up a place outside the u.s. .....

just wondering, this is all hypothetical...

let's say a friend was owed a lot of money by a processor, to make thigns easier, we'll give the processor a name.. oh idk, lets say verotel... so 'verotel' owes a friend lots of money, and for no reason at all, it's not being paid to him... if that friend made extremely serious threats to have the place shot up, could legal action be taken against the friend even though the processor is in another country?

If it's a sizeable ammount of money .. Simply contact a lawyer in the same country as this processor. Have the lawyer send a demand of payment letter. This may or may not work, and won't cost very much money. If they owe you quite a bit, and still refuse to pay, you can decide if it's worth going forward from there.

If it's just a few hundred dollars you're talking about, "shooting the place up" is a little extreme, don't you think?

Yes... And... I'm not sure shooting a place up is necessarily the most proactive solution to the problem.

Ummm... Hrm... I hope that your friend hasn't already made such threats in a manner that could be taken seriously. Even in jest, comments like that can get you into some hot water.

Don't worry about it unless you plan on ratting this "hypothetical" friend out. In that case, he might shoot you up.

Hypothetically speaking, yes, you 'friend' would be in a world of trouble that 's/he' wouldn't want. The Dutch and the American law enforcment groups have gotten pretty tight lately

http://www.cedro-uva.org/lib/uitermark.filiaal.en.html

You can find a lawyer in the Netherlands that is much of an asshole there as they are here.
