Working the web is just a numbers game so I would say first thing you need to do no matter what product or service you are planning on selling is FOCUS ON GETTING TRAFFIC!
No matter what the sources of your traffic are be sure that you can control where it all goes either by sending it all to one site (a hub) or by redirecting it via your server or scripts since this will allows be your most valuable assett. It doesn't matter how kick ass your site looks or how great your product is if nobody is seeing it then nobody is buying it.
With enough traffic you can literally sell ice to eskimoes!

Partners can be your greatest asset or liability, pick carefully.

patrack 03-18-2004 10:17 PM

If you want to truly make it in life, you need to KNOW who you are dealing with at all times. That's why the absolute BEST advise I have ever received has been the following.

If the last name of the person you're dealing with contains 'berg', 'wicz', 'sky', 'vitz', 'rosen', 'artz', 'stein', 'man', 'baum', 'gold', 'silver', 'thal', 'ller', 'stone', then PROCEED WITH CAUTION

jawanda 03-18-2004 10:57 PM

Business is RUTHLESS.

Do you want industry respect? YES.

Do you need traffic? YES.

Do you need to 'duplicate what works' ? YES!

But most importantly, you need to be RUTHLESS when it comes to following your INSTINCTS and running with something that you feel can be profitable.

NO ONE is going to wait around and congratulate you for your good idea, they are going to STEAL it, and for fucks sake, you shouldn't be afraid to do the same. In this biz, the early bird really DOES get the worm.

If it's legal, and it will make you money, do it.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF YOUR OWN SUCCESS, because there are one hundred guys standing behind you who have NO problem copying your idea and doing it 10x.

I still remember the day that I saw that movie (What was it, American Pie? Can't Hardly Wait?) and thought, "I wonder if milf.com is available? That could be big." Of course, it was only a few days after the movie came out and the domain was available, but I never bought it because I second guessed myself...

If only ... If only...

Never say those words again.

CHeck my sigg!

I think most of us, if not all started doing galleries!!! That is the thing that helped us build traffic and throw it arround. SE traffic is hard to earn now. It aint like 96, where u can throw 10000000 kyewoards and be out there fore eeverything!

You have to invest to make money in the beginning reinvest 100%
in your adult biz
when you start to get a good cashflow reinvest 50% of the money you make in adult in other things like real estate or shares
and 50% in your adult biz

buddyjuf 03-18-2004 11:52 PM

Rusty: Why do this?
Danny: Why not do it?
[Rusty shakes his head]
Danny: Cause yesterday I walked out of the joint after losing four years of my life and you're cold-decking teen beat cover boys.
[pause]
Danny: Cause the house always wins. Play long enough, you never change the stakes. The house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet big, then you take the house.
Rusty: Been practicing this speech, haven't you?
Danny: Little bit. Did I rush it? Felt I rushed it.
Rusty: No, it was good, I liked it.

Clearly, the most intelligent advice one could give in this business is to not post their business tips, tricks etc... because you know what? Someone will just take your business ideas, concepts, run off and fart in your face.

I'll take my $1,200. via paypal.

Thanks in advance ~

The Power of Creativity

A blind man sat on the steps of a building with a Hat by his feet and a sign that read:
"I am blind, please help".

A creative publicist was walking by him and stopped to observe, he only had a few coins in his hat.

He dropped a few more coins into the hat and without saying anything, took the sign, turned it around, and wrote a sentence on it.

He placed the sign by the blind man's feet and left.

That afternoon the creative publicist returned by the blind man and noticed that his hat was full of bills and coins. The blind man recognized his footsteps and asked if it was him who had re-written his sign and he wanted to know what did he write on it?

The publicist responded:
"Nothing that was not true, I just rewrote your sign differently".

He smiled and went on his way. The blind man never knew, but his new sign read:

"Today is Spring and I Cannot See it".

- Change your strategy when something does not go your way.
- Present yourself in a different way when things are not working out.
- A change in outlook can turn your life around.

Stick to a niche you know well, e.g. don't do bondage, if you don't dig it - it'll shine through...

promote , promote, promote, regardless of your budget.

GeorgeK 03-19-2004 06:59 AM

My best advice to folks (forget about prizes, etc.) is to always make sure that you have LEGAL CONTROL of the company. 50.1% ownership, whatever (100% is best), and if you are involved with other people, GET THINGS IN WRITING.

There are always some nutballs out there that will make life difficult, but if you have control, and you have things in writing, you alone determine your fate. While you can get rich by working for someone else, or being a minority owner, control is more likely to pay off big in the end.

Discipline - You have to have the dicipline to wait and build

alexg 03-19-2004 07:05 AM

here's my tip.

Develop various routines and shortcuts that will help you do your work faster. If you are focusing on TGP and freesite submissions, make a list with links to all the TGP's that you submit to, and use an automatic form filler to submit faster, make gallery templates that will be easy foryou to alter quickly.
If you run paysites, use a software that will let you update all your pay sites quickly.

No matter what you're focusing on, you should set some time aside to create work routines that will save you more time in the long run.

Very well put. :thumbsup

I will add this.

- to remember that what your selling/presenting must appeal to
your customers even if it doesn't appeal to you. You're not the
one buying it. They are.

I learned a long time ago to stop designing what I liked...and design what "they" like. Know you're target demographic and
give them what they want. :)

sickkittens 03-19-2004 09:11 AM

don't start projects you can't finish

sickkittens 03-19-2004 09:12 AM

set priorities - don't start new projects if more important ones aren't finished

sickkittens 03-19-2004 09:13 AM

always think of new ways to make more money

sickkittens 03-19-2004 09:14 AM

network. network. network. Make contacts, etc. but only rely on yourself 100%.

sickkittens 03-19-2004 09:15 AM

Always have a backup plan (or 2) in case of failure or dissapointment.

sickkittens 03-19-2004 09:16 AM

Be brandable - make yourself standout and be unique. Create an image that is easy recognizable and one that can easily connect you with your quality.

sickkittens 03-19-2004 09:18 AM

Don't put your eggs in one basket - don't rely on one source of traffic or money and don't spend more than you can make. :2 cents:

Repetitive Monkey 03-19-2004 09:18 AM

Jot down all ideas you come up with, no matter how crude, and work hard on the idea that fascinates you the most at any particular point in time.

This ensures that you keep your fingers (and mind) working hard, whereas if you worked on one project/idea at a time you would have more low efficiency peaks and a higher stress level.

That's my modus operandi at least. :)

j85635 03-19-2004 10:02 AM

Gunni 03-19-2004 10:05 AM

Roll the dice once in a while and take risks.

If you wait for someone else to tell you something is working it's already too late. Try doing things no one else has thought of and stick to your plan.

One risky move that pays off will outweigh ten failed ideas any day. The risk takers are always at the head of the pack.

I don't think I'm eligible to win. But here goes.

This simple yet complex practice will do more to maximize profits than just about any single other technique residing in a webmasters arsenal.

I could simply say, "target your traffic". But that simple phrase is one of the most basic mistakes I see in web based marketing today.

Each and every link a surfer clicks is a statement of what they want. The laws of demand and supply say that when a demand for something meets a supply of that same thing, money exchanges hands.

The holy grail of marketing is information about your prospective customer. As I stated before each link a surfer clicks is a statement of his desires. We are not in the business of advertising, we are not in the business of entertainment.

WE ARE IN THE BUSINESS OF CONVINCING AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE THAT AN ORGASM, RIGHT NOW, IS WORTH A FEW BUCKS.

When building sites it is the rich man who loads his site with enticing questions and delivers content specific to each question answered with a click.

EDIT: TRANSLATION: Don't put amateur banners on a gallery full of trannies.
