it all depends on how big the game is and how long it takes to design one....

Well how long would it take to design this ! The entire game is right there. All you design is this page and make a BMP. His game software takes care of the rest. This is stricly design and nothing else involved.

I run a game development asset contracting company as my mainstream biz, and have done games and asset work for about 10 years, for EA, GT Interactive, Midway, Take Two, etc. I'd be happy to discuss a contract like this as we are definitely capable of handling this amount of work.

You can see samples of some of the game work we've done here. We also created Strip Kittens 3D dancing stripper software.

Hit me on ICQ (158402683) or e-mail [email protected] if you're interested in talking.

Oh. I thought you just wanted that vault picture alone to be made, and then you're paying $500 for each additional item in that big picture. If it's $500 for ALL of that, there's no way that's going to happen. $500,000 for all of 1000 things like that? I think you'd be lucky to find someone to do that, unless they're not in America or Europe.

Edit: Or perhaps someone like monkeysnap who's in the industry knows what costs are involved and will offer to talk with you.

Cheers,
Matt

Damn, $250 to design and entire game? That seems a bit low.

Great work, Monkey! I just got a copy of Maya Developer's Edition (my boss loves me) and I can't wait to start modelling! Any tips for a noob?

I've used 3d Max, Poser, and Bryce and I'm quite proficient in them. Is the crossover to Maya (assuming you did these in Maya) that difficult?

Thanks HighOnAcid. The majority of the work on those pages was done with 3DSMax, but some of the earlier stuff like the Madden games I used Alias for (and some Wavefront), which was the "thing" on SGI before Maya came about. I used Maya a little bit for a game I was working on right before I started my own company, but since then it's all Max.

Tips for a newb... hmmmm... Learn to look at things. Look at everything. I mean -really- take the time to look closely at the texture and shape of things, and how light falls on them. You will soon find yourself totally enjoying that process, and trying to recreate what you see in 3D. It kicks ass.

That's a shit load of work for $250 or even $500. To model and render all those icons and pieces, reassemble the bmp, and do it well, in the 2-5 hours you have budgeted ($100 (at least) an hour) is a tall order unless you just happen to have all the pieces as prefab models.

I love the third world offerings here for jobs. Way to devalue designers work. Think more in the $2000 range per game and you have yourself a deal. Considering the revenue potential off of fun little games that's still a bargain.

Don't know how you expect someone to complete 1000 games in a year. Do you really think anyone is capable of doing 3 games a day?

I work as a designer for one of the biggest marketing companies in online casino and sportsbook promotion. If you want to talk drop me a line. 22518239

www.slots.com is one of my latest designs.

Well seeing how pieces are there and you'll just have to redesign to update these graphics from 6years ago.

As for Third World Prices. I believe we are heading to a one world market. Take it up with WTO. I totally feel your pain too cause as a designer myself prices suck compared to others. Like when I see $1 a banner

But that's only one thumb.

?!? If you give someone a job and under pay them.. its not by multiplying the job 1000 times that it will make it better...

As for the job itself... it would be nice if you would specify the polygones max. for each of the objects... and the number of texture maps.. Thats how people will judge if $500 is enough... Realism and cheap video game doesnt really goes together...

**
BTW.. we should have a GFY 3D modeling/rendering contest... havnt touch a 3D program in over a year.. but could give it try...

Hey, thanks D_Nell. I appreciate the opportunity we had to get involved and we're looking forward to going into full production on this.

Quick side note... someone mentioned something about not being paid by D_Nell for some coding, so I do want to say that I did not experience any problems at all in the monetary department. Not only did we work out a higher price for each game which he was totally cool with, but he also sent the payment early today right after he let me know we won the deal. It was quick, painless, and professional and I thought that should go on the record.

Thanks again man.
