Why the sig market is not a bad idea

This last month a lot of people were complaining about how sig view based posts were hurting this board.

In light of the amount of drama that took place this month, it's easily understandable for people to be upset about quality vs. quantity.

But the fact of the matter is, the buying and selling of sigs really has nothing to do with who actually posts but more with brand prescence.

"But no", you say, "If a member has a program in his sig and his name is well known, then people will be more likely to sign up with that program".

Sounds ideal, but I am willing to bet this is not the case. Why? Because everyone knows said person's sig has been sold. Thus negating the "backing" theory.

So, if you want to bid for big names, cool, that's your perogative. But if you want to maximize your brand prescence, I would suggest grabbing up as many small deals as possible to spread out the amount of attention you would be getting.

Did ARS buy one sig for a crazy amount of money? No. They simply interconnected a whole bunch of smaller deals to get their names out there.

How many ARS threads have there been since?

Now, I don't presume to know everything about everything, these are just my thoughts on the matter.

I think they sell to the bigger names because it is human to do so. You want to associate yourself with others who are big and hopefully others will do so to. Unfortunately, most of the newbs here don't know AaronM from Lensman from Bradshaw, so the people who will be signing up to your program are clueless about who is popular or who is knowledgable, except for those they come into contact with.

is some aspects you are right, is some you are wrong
its' ironic that some ppl want more for their sig than they make in this biz each month ( obsiously NOT talking about Sleazy or Aaron ) but that shouldn't be a problem for you.

What I noticed it that your sig value goes up when not only your nickname but also your FACE is recognized.
But I am too tired to give examples now

1 : Mark himself from ARS told everybody that the program was NEVER MEANT FOR SIGNATURES . NEVER !

LMAO ... if you think people look at the sigs of people that post all the time you are just dumb . At who's sig do you look when they post ? I look at a sig when I actually read the post . And who's post do I read ? The big boy's post ... they are the only one that make me learn soemthing about this business.

he's right in that sense, that when somoene notices that everyone has Epic Cash ( TCG, ARS ) in their sig and he decides to join a new program, then he is more likely to join the program he recognizes from here... ( especially if it is someone spenign a few hrs daily on this baord - then he is simply looking for "current trends" as stupid as this may sound )
I am too tired to explain it further, hopefully you can understand something from what i have written

goodbye
