Post your home theatre pics HERE

I am thinking of getting a 65 inch HDTV and theatre seating. Anyone have a nice home theatre they can post pics of? I am looking for ideas. I saw a 5 DVD disc player at Best Buy I liked and even thought of getting a theatre style popcorn popper.

I've got the 65 inch widescreen and the 5-disc dvd...I don't see the point in theater seating though. The shit isn't comfortable.

Have you seen the new seats they have at like Rooms to go or Kaines? they are basically a big recliner without arms, you have a wedge that fits in between them that has 2 cupholders in them. Not cheap but very comfortable.

If you have a dedicated room you should look into a projector instead of a huge TV. You'll thank me when it comes time to move it. (However the new Toshiba's aren't bad that come in two pieces.)

I'll give you a tip right off the bat. If you like bass, get this:

http://svsubwoofers.com/subs_b4_plus.htm

Basically the best subwoofer on the market right now that isn't going to cost you the same price as a new car.

The Lazyboy cinema series seats are nice. Nothing like the crap in a real theater. You can even get motorized reclining action.

Damn. Yeah the lazy boy recliners were the most expensive, like $1200 per seat and the same for a wedge.. Kaines was like $500 per seat and $250 per wedge.

But don't you have to have a darkened room to be able to see a projection screen good? Best Buy has a Mitsubishi 65inch HD for like $2500

(Oops fucked my post up. Here goes again.)

I just priced these in Dec. For 3 of them in black leather with motorized recliners it was $7000 Canadian.

Greg did his home theatre room on his own. Came out nice, and spent maybe 1/10th what I spent.

Ya, pretty well have to have a dedicated room for front projection. That's the only drawback.

I've seen some people that use a tv in the daytime then have a screen lower from the ceiling at night when it's dark.

Do you have a spot on your property with a good south/southwest view (assuming you're continental USA)?

Lots of companies are getting rich lying how the big dish is dying but your cable company and satellite company get their signals from a big dish. These days you have to have a couple of receivers slaved together (Google 4DTV and FTA) to get the most out of a big dish but not only can you get 99% of the popular channels (a few have exclusive distribution contracts) you can get several thousand other frequencies of feeds, stations, radio, whatever and if you want HD you can add that.

You'll spend more upfront for equipment but save in subscriptions and get a better picture than your cable or DSS can provide. You will never watch 80% or more of the stuff on any cable or little dish package but on big dish you can subscribe to most channels ala carte for as little as 5 bucks a year and display first generation signals on your dream theater system. I am currently paying just $50 or so ANNUALLY for the stuff I want that is scrambled. If you only use it to watch the free stuff it it's not a replacement for whatever you use for your primary TV but if you like sports, news, international stuff and misc stuff being beamed around you will be in heaven when there is nothing else on

Caveat Emptor: there is a bit of a learning curve involved, not quite as bad as learing a computer

Not the greatest pics, I know. The seating is two comfy couches, and the second row of seating is raised 12".

It consists of:

Denon VR-4802R 7.1 THX receiver
Adcom 5500 amp
4 Boston Acoustics vr-950 towers in all four corners
Boston Acoustics Center
Mission 15" powered sub
Mirage sides

Plus, a 60 CD jukebox, DVD player, VCR, Sony touchscreen remote, etc...

It's time to replace my 54" big screen with a plasma though. We were going to do that this year, but we're putting in an inground pool instead.

Choker, what are you looking to drop on this? If its >50k then bestbuy is not going to cut it for quality.

If you're not looking to go totally crazy, might i recommend the Sony Grand Wega III 70". It's an LCD rear projection system that's about... half a foot deep. Looks like plasma from the front. Quality wise it's top notch too. Can run 1:1 pixel from a HD source and has DVI inputs for a top-notch dvd player or HTPC.

As far as room design goes, check these out.

http://www.cedia.net/awards/elwinners2002.php

But i strongly suggest you get a pro in to design your room's sound, it really doesnt cost much of anything since they'll sell you their own product, and they'll use things like acoustic sensors to map out what the best sound setup is for the room so you have no dead spots.

/audiophile mode off

Hehehe - I had to measure VERY carefully to make sure I got a TV that would even fit into my little house. I HAVE thought about getting crazy and buying a table for it......

I've seen em and tried em out. Don't like em. I've got a nice big leather recliner with arms and a couch. So I either recline or I lie down when I watch a movie. The only improvement I could make would be to put a bed downstairs so I could get even more cozy during a movie. I've got a TV and DVD player in the bedroom for that though.

I'll give you a tip right off the bat. If you like bass, get this:

http://svsubwoofers.com/subs_b4_plus.htm

Basically the best subwoofer on the market right now that isn't going to cost you the same price as a new car.
You are right , Home theatre projectors with a screen is a better idea for dedicated rooms. The big screen Tv's get dwarfed in larger enviroments
