For Canadians : GST/HST on your income?

This document should be read by all canadians operating as Canadians or better : get it read by your accountant for an opinion.

Cliff notes: all , ALL , members income ( as well as most advertising income) is taxable, even if the surfer is located in Iraq...

I took the direct approach and contacted the taxes poeples. I declare my revenues under "revenue by contract", until i reach 30,000 revenue by year...Then and only then, i am required to register for GST and TVQ taxes. In my case i am considered an autonomn worker, however if you directely sells something that you manage and own in Canada, you have to registered since you are providing a direct service (Enr. or inc.).

I could be wrong...because...i hate that fucking stuff and understand very little of their incessant crap. There is no nice way to say it .

As the law stands this is the general rule (as determined after a 6 month long audit with the CCRA this year):

If you own and operate a member site, you better know if they are Canadian or not. If you don't know, CCRA will assume 100% of your members are Canadian and you must pay the GST for all related revenues.

If you are an affiliate for a sponsor, you must collect GST for all Canadian sponsor companies. These are considered commission based sales, you are not liable for GST from USA based sponsors.

HST = Harmonized sales tax. It's a combo of PST/GST used in the east coast.

it's true - it's why you need to have a US corporation that owns your websites and do consulting work in canada for that US corporaion. (or any other country will do)

That's good to know. Don't think I use any Canadian sponsors. I'm just trying to sort this crap out now. What a nightmare.

The tax man is raping me this year.

They jump off the bridge...

Really complicated, and what is worse is that the gov can interpret as they wish. Then you have to pay lawyers to win. I did that, and you go to Federal Court ...

There's always way around this issue, most adult sponsors need a US presence to operate their merchant accounts with Epoch/CCBill/iBill. You could always use that address instead of the Canadian one.

Hey Sleazy,

Sounds like you have the right set-up for Canadians - I'd love to talk to the person who set you up. Could you pass a phone number along?

ICQ: 2 7 8 9 1 3 9 2 3

BTW - that was a kick ass bash you threw in Vegas!

That's why i never join Gammacash . Too much tax problem...

But to tell the truth, i think Canada is part of the Matrix...Taxes are there to makes us beleive that we are in a real world. I don't buy it one second, i am still searching for the plugs and all...
