I've actually gone through this before for a friend in Canada. It was the real deal and it was NOT fun.
We had police and ambulances at the person's house. Turns out the "friend" was fucking with us and trying to create drama while we were all panicking.

End of friendship.

Thanks for the clarification Tom. Seemed a bit of a daft statement to me but my medical knowledge on many subjects is about as good as that of your average vietnamese pot bellied pig.
