p1mpdogg - I didn't call your bluff. If I wanted to I could follow through on sueing you for profiting from a name that I added value to. I have a very strong case there. What your lawyers said I didn't? Of course they did, they only get paid if you need them...

Where did I call you a bad business man? I called you unprofessional sir, and that you ARE! without doubt.

You took nothing and turned it into something more than nothing, that makes it something. What that something is, isn't much! :)

In terms of what goes on behind closed doors? Oh you've been talking to disgruntled ex employees? Oh wow, that is a great source of objective non biased information ROFLMAO

TDF 01-25-2004 09:08 PM

how are webmasters supposed to know if the sale converts over when there is no revshare to reffer to?

For a long while now Marie and I have pretty much sat in the background and just observed but even we were surprised by some of the info on Saturday.

You don't need to remind me ... I am still beating myself up for not popping down. Do you think it was successful enough to become a regular event ?

Marc De 01-25-2004 09:09 PM

MikeAI - near bankrupcy? Hell, I passed that a long time ago. I'm playing with the bank's money now. Hopefully they aren't reading this thread ;) Soon they'll be taking away the very keyboard in which I type from!

Yep! I just got back from Cabo looking for FM's condo so I could hide some $ in there. Times are tough, and my hair is falling out!

sue me Marc, and see where it gets you. I think we did a good job at shooting your claim down, but hell, our lawyers dont have much todo these days, maybe they need something to keep them busy?

Teen Angel is already working on another one in 6 months - evidently she has had a lot of enquiries just in the last 24 hours from people who didn't make it this time. So many in fact that she had to go to the beach just to get away from them - life's hard when you're a graphic designer :)

Apart from the information that was given out there we also had some great opportunities to network and talk to people offering some new billing options, people who were looking for different sources of content, there were programming guys and sponsors - it was just a goldmine of information and contacts.

I think if it had a down side it was that it was almost too short - there were 5 or 6 people that Marie and I wanted to talk to but we never got the chance.

pimpdogg - unfortunately you have me all wrong. I'm not an arrogant prick. I, as you like to claim yourself, say it how it is, I just use tact.

In regards to sueing you, believe it or not, but I don't believe in sueing people. However, sometimes it is necessary. If I felt you were profiting enough from the use of a name I created value for, or if I felt you were harming my business in any way I would gladly serve you with papers. Luckily for all of us you haven't become that large of a blip on my radar :)

I would pay in the high 5 figures to see ARS's inside stats. Imagine the information you could glean ! :)

KRL 01-25-2004 09:33 PM

Its so clear where the next phase of this industry is going. So very clear. Yet I can count on one hand the people that are making the moves to position themselves for the next big wave. And the funny part is its staring everyone right in the face, and its so close they don't see it.

This industry is just like the ocean. Learn to surf and see the waves heading in that everyone else is missing. And always keep in mind the waves come from the ocean NOT the beach. There is great meaning in that sentence if you read between the lines.

pimpdog - while you are setting your goals high (that is a good thing) know the basis of your competition. ARS has only been around 4 years... I've been the same size for 3 of those 4 years. If you aren't as big as me now, I guess you lost your race mon ami ! :)

Brujah - hopefully all sarcasm was lost on that post! I love you too bro...

KRL - I'll expand upon what you are saying - be prepared for change or get out of the way! This year more empires will fall than any other year before it... :)

oh only 4? my bad...

give me another year marc and lets revisit this thread.. that is ofcoarse unless you sue me and put me out of business.

btw, wanna trade some exit traffic?

lol

Hooper 01-25-2004 09:43 PM

so are you planning on lowering payouts marc?

BradShaw 01-25-2004 09:43 PM

As far as members areas go..... I would be the first person to say that ours are average at best, 5 out of 10. Have tried to redo them totally. A massive project that requires capable employees and programmers. Anyone know any?

I would say ARS members areas are above average, I would give them an 8. With so many sites, VERY hard to have that many separate and top notch members areas.

You are right. 2004 will be a cleansing year for sure.

Its all about listening. So many people just do not know how to listen. Open your ears, shut your mouth and listen. The customers will always tell you how to make money if you just listen.

The money is in their pockets not yours. Just listen and they will tell you exactly how to take it out and place it in your cash register.

Marc De 01-25-2004 09:48 PM

What is amazing Brad is that at an 8 they still don't convert. Of course I know the numbers from some all exclusive content programs that don't convert trial to full any better. Its not JUST the content but its definitely time to get away from the cookie cutter shit out there.

pimpdogg - if you thought for 1 second I hated you and that is why you attack me, you're wrong. Last year is business. My opinion to your professionalism is just my opinion. I get the sense you want to 'be cool' with me. Your last post made me laugh :) If you want my bad side, attack me. If you wanna drop the damn drama, drop it! I'm a big boy and I don't hold grudges!

an *8*??? are you on crack. nasty dollars sites are an 8, and those are great weekly updated quality content. bangros online is an 8.5 now that they are finally updating them and cleaning up the mess of files they had at first.

ars is like anywhere between a 2 and a 7.5. their sites vary widely, but some of their old ones were putrid last time i looked. like pure trash i'd be embarassed to pimp out to my worst enemy.

the best ratings i reserve for ones that i'm not going to mention here cuz i don't want them getting promoted any more than they already are. lol. sorry.

Pardon me for kissing someone's ass but I've seen the inside of some or your sites Brad - and some of them are up there in the top 5 for their niche.

Marc De 01-25-2004 09:53 PM

Hooper - a change in model isn't about lowering payouts. Out with the old, in with the new!

Marc give me some credit man. I dont hate you at all. I did and still do like ars as a program. You did however piss me off trying to pull that shit last year, but shit happens. I obviously got your attention or you would have never sent it to me.

Your opinion of me is way off base. boards are boards, and business is business.

I will be the first to admit I am as unprofessional as they come when it comes to internet games. but there sint anyone here who says I do not follow through with what I say I will do.

I dont dislike you at all, I just think the 'industry leader' thing is stretching it..

cheers Marc. its all good

BradShaw 01-25-2004 09:54 PM

I would give nasty dollars members areas a 10. For a progra that buys 1000's of joins a day, they have best members areas IMHO.

Bangbros even around anymore? Thought they were one shot wonder.

Marc De 01-25-2004 09:54 PM

Troll - we're talking about MEMBERS AREAS and the term converting is meant Trial to Full - not traffic to sales :) I can see how that would be misconstrued, thanks for pointing it out...

Marc De 01-25-2004 09:56 PM

pimp - I didn't post that comment to sound arrogant. Obviously you consider us a leader, you like our BYOT program, you liked how we named it, and you stride to be as big as me :)

Hooper 01-25-2004 09:57 PM

well whatever you have up your sleeve marc i'm sure it'll be interesting.

best of luck.

Brad you should know as well as anyone that 'capable employees' in this industry never feel the need to become 'employees' in the first place, and in fact are usually 'capable employees' employed by themselves.
