Does anyone have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Just curious because I might have it after working so many hours on the net for the past 6 years.

If you had it, you'd definitely know about it. I get occasional twinges now and then but from what I hear, once you really have it, it's excrutiating and you can't do a damn thing.

Do those natural keyboards really work? I type all day and have been thinking that it might be a worthwhile change.

yeah my hands were a mess using a normal keyboard, they were very tight and painful but that pain went away when I started using the natural keyboard. I have no problems at all anymore.

it takes about 3 days to get used to using the natural keyboard and you'll hate it at first, but now I love it and hate using a normal keyboard. MS puts out a multimedia keyboard thats a little more expensive but I hate that one because there are too many buttons and annoying features. I like the basic one that I linked to above.

Thank you for replying. I get pains in my wrist and arms after working a long day but, only in my right arm only. Which is the hand I use for the mouse constantly.

I guess I better get it checked out with the doctor.

I use a Gel wrist support mouse pad with an optical mouse. Makes some a difference but, the pain is still there for me.

Best thing I do as of late is take a weekend off from working and just let my wrist cool out for a nice 48 hour period.

Also, you may want to look into a soft touch keyboard. I am very heavy handed when I type and I had to really try to mellow out on pounding the keys.

Funny thing is that my guitar playing never seems to bother my hand, only working for waaaay too many hours in a row.

I got it from too many hours typing, the pain was so bad I could barely move my arm. I switched to a natural keyboard and noticed an improvement within days. Took a while but i don't have problems anymore.

I think I might. Between playing the drums all the time and working on computers, I think I have it, because sometimes I get wrist pains and stuff. Never got diagnosed though.

Make a search for "carpal" here on GFY. Several threads about it.

I'm not diagnosed with it, but I'm 99% sure that I have it, it's not too extreme though (yet). I suppose that I should get in to get it looked at.
