tell me about it, i live near brighton on the south east coast and you're looking at £200k ($360k) for the cheapest crappy terrace house. when you can compare that to what you get for your money elsewhere in the UK and abroad it's a joke.

I live a little further west up the coast but we have a very similar problem. The system just isn't designed for the huge influx and there isn't the employment to cope either. This means it has a HUGE impact on the local population and community and none of it good

We're so pissed off with it now we're moving near Manchester. If nothing else at least property is still more than affordable up there.

yes i didnt mean the UK, thats not europe.. thats just another US state. I know i was real put off by england -- especially london when i first got to europe because it was SO american. THe only other foreign country ive been to that was that american was Australia. If you're moving for a CHANGE, avoid london and australia.

Those of you who say "at least we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights to guarantee freedom" are being a bit naive, since our government stopped obeying the Constitution a LONG time ago.

If things keep going the way they're going in the USA (belligerent politicians starting wars, decreased privacy & civil liberties, massive government spending, high taxes, terrorist attacks), I'll probably move to Australia or New Zealand.

me neither, if someone is fleeing genuine persecution then fair enough, we should and always have given them sanctuary in the UK. however i would bet that it's only a tiny fraction that are in that situation. it's mainly ecconomic migrants, i don't blame them if i was young and lived in a poor country, i would do my best to get to a rich country like the US or UK. but if they are ecconomic migrants then we should be picky and only accept people with skills that are in short supply like doctors etc.
