Help me boost my cable signal
So I've got a splitter with one coax running to my TV and one going to my cable modem. A few times a day I have to unplug the main wire from the splitter and plug it into the modem to get online. That means I can't watch TV. The fact that I'm addicted to both the internet and television means I MUST have both.

if you got more then one split thats your problem or if it is a long cable be sure the line coming in doesnt have a splice (berrel) in it if all else fails by a mini amp goto radio shack tell them you need a cable signa amplifier aka mini amp it needs an outlet for power but they boost the signal quit nicely

Make sure you're using heavy duty coax..
Try changing the splitter too.. If that doesn't work.. Radio Shack sells a signal booster for cable modems.. |

i have 3 tvs and my pc is last off the line, and shits fast and steady on everything. no booster.
you should check the actual coax tips themselves before you buy any booster or anything. sometimes if you use twist on tips they come loose, or even if they were crimped, maybe they weren't done right. |

Cluck:
Make sure you're using RG-6 Coax all the way from your cable companies demarcation point into your modem. You'll also want to be very careful about hooking up any amplified splitter to a cable modem. There is the potential to fry the modem. If you do fry it, make sure you don't tell the cable company you had an amp hooked up to it when you call them for a new modem. Oh yeah, If there's anyway you can get DSL do it! I've got both cable and DSL here at the house and our DSL provider is much more reliable and way faster than cable. My ![]() |

make sure the splitter is atleast 1000MHz if it's a 2way, the loss on each end sould be no more than 3.5 if not get a new splitter. You don't want a amp on the modem line as that will sometimes affect the reverse signal for the modem, specially the radio shack specials..
all esle fails either get a second line ran or try to find a pass through splitter that only has loss on one out...
